Stupid question if I have a family friend that’s a partner at another firm would they have more swing over just a referral? Like if there wasn’t a posted position in general could they just kinda slide you in lol

Isn’t this like….nepotism? Lol

like

Nepotism is hiring someone (typically family) merely because of a pre-existing relationship, regardless of their qualifications. Typically, nepotism points to unqualified people.

You can’t get a position made for you, and to avoid nepotism, or the appearance of nepotism, you’d still go through the entire, normal hiring process, but if a partner refers you, they tend to have a bit more pull in the process. Regardless, you still must meet the minimum requirements for the position

It will guarantee an interview. There are controls in place so you’ll still have to go through the hiring process. Really doubtful he’ll create a position just for you and I don’t that other partners will do the same. When I was looking to get in at big4, I knew a few Directors that were friends and they called up the people I was interviewing and put in a good word. Interviews were very informal and here I am. They are all partners now.

Please who knows about the advisory practice within the PwC financial crime unit (Canada Acceleration Centre)? I understand it is a client non-facing advisory role. Would it be a good career decision for someone coming from GRC firms like Kroll, Control Risk or Exiger? Can anybody please suggest if I clear their interviews will they consider increasing CTC from whatever I quoted becase upon searching for ACon roles they pay much higher than what I quoted.

Is Operations paid the least at your respective firms? I was hired to a Client Service Delivery role with a heavy focus on project management. I regularly interface with leadership internally and at the client. But, I am aligned to the “Operations” capability and make the least of my teammates who perform seemingly identical work but are aligned to “Strategy and Consulting.” I worry I’m on a career path to being paid the least wherever I go, because Operations is in my title and background.

Hi everyone!

After years of hard work, I just got my first position in a leadership role! Yay! I’ll be leading a team of 12.
I wanted to know if you had any tips for me, things you wish you knew before, or things previous leaders did for/to you that you found admirable or stayed with you. I want to make sure I’m there for them and want to be a leader they will remember positively.

Thank you so much!!

This one is for folks on h1b visa. So at time when you have an offer in hand(not accepted the offer yet and h1b transfer process not yet begun) while you are working with your current employer, do you even speak to your employer about your new offer to see if they make a counter offer?
Is there a risk involved with this approach assuming your current employer doesn't provide you with a counter offer and they ask you to leave immediately (and your h1b visa hasn't been transferred either)
