Lmaooo Big 5...this guy
What’s big 5?
Lol @ big 5
I’d skip it. Boiled down, you want to work somewhere that’s excited to have you. If they know you were promoted and are trying to give you a ‘re-prove yourself message’ - it might ‘make sense’ for them but doesn’t mean it makes sense for you
@EY1 Big 5, same service line
It might not be a bad thing to do a year as an associate at the new firm. Even if you’re confident in your skills, there’s a lot of other things with changing firms that can be a bit overwhelming on top of being a first year senior. For example, new software, learning the resources that you have available to you at the new firm, terminology, etc. Just my thoughts.
S1 at Grant = A2 at Big 4. Sounds fair to me
The difference in technical skills is a lot greater than you’d think. I’m not sure what “big 5” is but you’re definitely better off starting as an associate and proving yourself and getting promoted next year. That’s what I did. You’ll likely be earning as much as a senior would from wherever it is you work now.
Curious...what firm considers them self as #5? Must be some good kool aid!
What @KPMG 2 said. It’s better for you to start at a lower level in order to lower their expectations. It would help you in your evaluations. You can’t recover from a bad first impression.
Are you coming from a mid-tier or different service line?
Mid tier I mean
Big 5 means GT. Lol. I get why they wouldn’t hire you as an Associate. You’ve been a senior for a few weeks. I would work through one busy season as a senior at your current firm and then go B4. Good luck!
If it’s PwC, 3 years til senior is our standard.
@KPMG 2 but the same significant pay cut?
@OP if I would be taking a pay cut to go to the B4, I would just stay at the mid tier firm, get 1 year as a senior under my belt and then go for B4
Big Five= RSM... GT has been a little behind on revenues for the last decade or so
I went to another firm under the same circumstances and negotiated a huge raise when I made senior
