This is for parents of small kids. I take my meds in the am and I’m pretty good about getting myself and the kids ready, fed, out the door and the chaos associated with that, and I feel like I could keep going with household chores, personal admin, etc. But of course I then have to get myself to the office, at which point I inevitably crash by 8 am. I don’t think my meds have worn off but I feel like I’ve run a full marathon and am totally unproductive for the next 2-3 hours. Any advice??

Do you need meds to get kids out the door? Try taking them later in the day if not? Are you taking extended release? If so you could try adding an instant release ‘booster’ 30 min before you get to the office. And talk with your doctor. There’s a lot of trial and error in finding the right dosage/timing. I still haven’t figured it all out

like

I don’t have kids but used to experience a similar crash. I now take an extended release in the morning and have a 10mg instant I can take as needed to get me through the rest of the day if I crash. It sounds like you need a higher dose if you’re crashing that early in the morning. You may have built a tolerance to your current dose.

like

Would definitely talk to your doctor first and foremost and see if they have any insight with the meds situation. Outside of that though, keeping myself to a pretty strict schedule for mornings and work has helped a lot. I can feel like the tasks are autopilot and don’t need much more of me than normal.

like

Schedule autopilot tasks or relaxation tasks after 8 pm if you have any, or have a caffeinated tea/decaf coffee if that gives enough boost to function. With small kids I’m assuming they sleep early.

If you need to work after 8 pm then definitely look into a 5 mg or 10 mg IR for your medication, taken around 7 pm.

I can’t hide the wires because my building won’t let me open the wall. My idea was to slip a tile sheet that is wall behind the tv stand as a back, but I need the tile cut to the specific heigh and width of the tv stand. Does anyone know where I can take this tile sheet to get cut to the specific measurements?

How do you all deal with time management - and specifically time estimate - problems?

I always underestimate how long things will take, both because we ADHD’ers view time differently and because I don’t build in time for getting distracted.

I work with a partner who asks me by when I can get something done rather than giving a deadline. I appreciate the flexibility but I always short sell myself and end up pulling all-nighters to meet my self-imposed unrealistic deadlines.

One of my frustrations with myself (writing it out here so I can work on it) is that I will print out something that I need, such as a traffic collision report. I will read it without actually reading it. This results in spending time without actually retaining info. Does this happen to anyone else?
