Want to introduce investing to my 10 year old nephew. I was looking for books and other resources that could help him get started. Any recommendations?

I just had an hour long conversation with my 14yo nephew on investing. I think we have a good mix of ppl in this group. Although I'm about 25% individual stocks, I think I prefer teaching him about low cost index funds 100% and letting it ride. Too many variables in stock trading. If you want to teach index funds, then have him read The Simple Path to Wealth. it's a get rich slow method, but tried and true, and the easiest (set it and forget it). But it's not all about investing. Need to teach about debt and spending more importantly. Can't invest money you don't have.

I don’t have kids, and am far from, but thinking back to how my mom might have helped shape the way I view investing is starting with instilling values around saving wealth. I naturally transitioned myself as I aged to researching investing strategies and ways to accelerate wealth accumulation

We played a stock market game in my 8th grade class that was pretty fun - we worked in small teams to research stocks and all started with the same amount of $. Measured progress over the quarter and picked a class winner based on gains. Maybe you could recreate at home or with some of your nephews friends?

I did play roller coaster tycoon too (loved that game!) but this was old school pen and chalkboard process. I remember telling my dad to buy google in 1999....he didn’t listen 🤪

What’s the general guidance on the order to maximize retirement contributions for tax benefits for an normal individual and for a self employed/small business owner before moving to taxable accounts or alternate vehicles like cash value life policies?
I’ve seen for individual: match trad 401k->match roth 401k->max roth IRA->max trad IRA->max trad 401k->max roth 401k->max HSA
For self employed: max SEP IRA/solo 401k->max roth IRA->max trad IRA->max HSA

Of course situations differ but in general?

Hi guys 👋🏻
This is regarding the interest amount of our EPF.

For you guys,is the interest details showing any amount in the EPFO member passbook? Or is it showing '0' like me(As seen in the photo below)?

Is the government yet to credit the interest amounts of our PF balances? Or is something wrong with my PF account only?

Any inputs will be really appreciated 🙂

Feeling grateful & proud as I reached my goal ($50K by 25) 5 months early. But I can’t help feeling a bit overwhelmed. In the lifelong scheme of things, $50K doesn’t seem like much. I worked really hard and sacrificed a lot (including mental health) to get to this but it seems a little tiring knowing I still have so long to go. I recently moved out and in with my BF so my expenses are split, but nonetheless they are still expenses. Any tips on continuing this journey and keeping the drive?

Well yes. Crypto is taxed like stocks & other types of property. When you sell for a profit, you are required to pay tax on the gains. It’s called capital gains tax.

Any advice how to calculate what I should keep on reserve vs. invest + learn about consequences of pulling investments early (more tax, fees, etc.). I feel like the inability to access funds when my family needs it has been the reason I haven’t invested outside of 401k and have this cash reserve
