Wanted to highlight Prudential Financial’s hiring practices. They rescinded my offer once I attempted to negotiate the salary. The official reason given was that I didn’t “sound excited enough”.
They then admittedly gave the offer to someone who was less qualified. There were other red flags throughout the job offer process that the HR team should overall be ashamed of.

Top 10 books to read about consulting life ?

A nice comfortable office chair.

My criteria: mesh seat and back, arms, headrest
I tried cheap ones from Amazon. Expensive, second hand gaming chairs. Tried HM Aeron (second hand) and while I didn't like the bulk and the general design, I was sold on the mesh seating. I wanted to get the ErgoChair 2 from autonomous, but it doesn't have mesh seat.

I am going to Amazon, not a director level role though.
I was doing business analyst work on tech projects and a few assessments and strategy projects. Huge learning curve indeed. Worked on two projects in industry- new market entry and regional expansion. Learning curve with modelling macro and micro economic analysis and just various forms of analysis. A lot of learning from ex manager as an analyst. Left because missed travel and fast paced lifestyle and always delivering to client. In strategy consulting now. Looking to move to boutique
Director? What level are you
To provide more background, I primarily work on tech implementations - think Oracle/SAP/Salesforce and focus on the functional aspects of process improvements for a particular client group/entity. Usually leading requirements/process modeling and then the implementation itself. I'm not sure how these skills translate into exit opps
And Tech consultants can get corporate strategy for sure . I did it and came back into consulting after 1.5 yrs
@KPMG1, what type of work were you doing before you left? Also how did you position yourself from moving from technology consulting towards corp dev? Was there a huge learning curve? What made you come back? Sorry for all the questions
@K1 also interested to hear about your experience and why you came back
I will be working on the Echo team with in Amazon mainly on product road maps. In consulting I did lot of customer experience design work.
@m1 what firm are you at right now
Yes, getting a raise Salary and bonus. Getting some RSU which was an added bonus. Yes, I will be moving to Seattle.
Also are companies like Google/Facebook/Amazon realistic targets?
@KPMG, I'm SC, but not planning on leaving until I make Manager and am 2-3 years into Manager
Congrats Manager1! What type of work were you doing and what type of work will you be doing over at Amazon?
Nice KPMG1! Thanks for sharing! What type of boutiques are you looking at?
@K1. Thanks for this. In a very similar position. Sounds like while your heart is in consulting, industry was the right move at the time and helped open good options for you
EY
@M1, any perks salary differences etc? Will you be based out of Seattle
Good luck!
Thank you. Good luck in your search too. Hope you find what you are looking for.
