I’ve been told that as well, or intimidating. People aren’t used for women to be confident and powerful. It means you don’t fit their expectations of you being quiet, insecure, servile and without opinions. It sucks to hear it, specially when you don’t see yourself that way at all, but it’s just how society is imo. Own it.
Calling a woman scary implies that she's difficult to work with. I don't think that's a compliment at all😒
Depends on the context--what was the comment in reaction to?
Who said you are scary?
Totally depends on who said it and in what context
Your husband might be onto something. Perhaps your employees admire your decisiveness and directness, even if it comes across as a bit intimidating. But that doesn't mean you should embrace the "scary boss" persona. Instead think of it as a rough diamond that needs some polishing.
I don't really like that at all. I would be really offended by that and you aren't wrong to feel the way you do. I definitely do agree though. You can't be the manager who is best friends wiht everyone so being a little feared is not a bad thing.
