What is everyone childcare schedule/situation? Currently on mat leave with my second. My first goes to daycare 8:30/9-5/530. We are trying to figure out what to do with the second. I (lawyer) WFH usually 9-6pm and my husband (doctor) usually leaves around 6:30am and comes home between 5-6:30 depending on his patient schedule for the day (with a half day on Tuesdays). We also would like some extra help with chores around the house.

Nanny share. Would recommend.

We have had a nanny since my first (now almost 9) was around 4 months. We still have our nanny and she now is like a house manager as well since both of my kids are in school. The house manager aspect is incredible, and I miss it in the summers when the kids are home and nanny does things with them during the day when they do not have camps. She truly is my right hand woman.

My gf and me call each other everytime we have free time. However lately she seems disinterested in phone time. She never initiates calls anymore and she tells me she wants to hang up in the middle of the day and not right before bedtime. We live a 4 hour drive apart. And I told her this is like living together from a distance, because I put her on the house speakers. What can I do to keep her engaged?

Just got my wisdom teeth extracted yesterday. The pain is unbearable. Help!!!

I’ve always gotten the advice that when you want to switch jobs you should take interviews from places you’re not actually interested in, so you can understand your value in the market and have better negotiating power.

I’m doing that rn - took a couple interviews to gauge my skills, my market value, and see what I need to work on for interviews that I actually care about.

However, I feel really guilty about wasting their time and going all the way knowing I’ll just say no at the end. Wwyd?

Insurance Defense Associate new to group. Just finished first year on the defense side after 6 years on the Plaintiff side, joined 3 weeks before lockdown. WFH with 6 and 2 year old. While billing 2k in a year with kids at home all day is nuts, you will not get better balance in a small pltff firm. Small firm partners are allergic to WFH, and can't afford to be flexible with when an associate gets to their work. The support of a larger firm is what has kept me alive this past year.

I have a 5-year-old and we recently moved in with my boyfriend (40s, divorced, no kids). He’s trying, which I appreciate, but he has very little patience or tolerance for a rambunctious kid. I have a demanding career so my bf has encouraged me to lean on him more, but I feel like he makes it obvious he finds my son annoying. He just has no parental instinct and they’re clearly not comfortable around each other so I never ask for his help or push them to spend time together. I want us to be a happy blended family but even I don’t know the right thing to do at this point to get there. Any advice?
