What’s with all these Recruiters transitioning to “coaching?” I realize that a successful coaching practice probably brings in more $$$ than recruiting (unless you’re at the top of your game and recruiting for high level execs). On the other hand, honestly, how large is the coaching market?

I've wondered the same thing. I see career coach ads somewhat frequently and I wonder who is paying for these services. When I'm unemployed the last thing I want is to spend money on something superfluous like that. I guess the only way I'd be tempted was if someone had amazing credentials/success rate of helping people find jobs.

There are no jobs to recruit for right now.

I don’t think most are doing it for the money, they’re probably doing it because the job market for recruiters is terrible and they can’t find full time work.

There are some legit ones, I don’t doubt that, but three people I know personally who are career or life coaches are a hot mess in their own lives and have no business coaching others on how to achieve success. What business do people who have never even held a management position have coaching executives of large companies? I don’t get it, and in a lot of cases, it seems like those who can’t do, teach…

It’s what “we” recruiters do when there are no jobs to work on. Aka “give back season”

how do we get out?! i’ve been doing office work in a grocery store for too long… this was supposed to help me transition out of hospitality but it feels like i’m going to be stuck in a grocery store for the rest of my career
i guess i just need to voice my frustrations. it’s not that i hate my job or the field, i don’t. i’m just feeling extremely overwhelmed and discouraged i think. does anyone really, truly enjoy what they do in retail/hospitality?? needing some positivity

I’m a first generation professional and a bit lost on what path I should take. I’m a senior at Deloitte in the assurance department. I’ll be honest and say that my priority is to make the most money I can in the future and would like to plan according to that priority. I have really good SOX 404 experience. My choices are the following 1) become the lead senior in my public client and stay in assurance 2)FSO 3) Advisory?

Is there an easy/efficient way to figure out how much you've contributed to vs earned in your Roth accounts? I started contributing >20 years ago to my employer's Roth 401k and have rolled it over to a Roth IRA and moved it between multiple custodians, e.g. Fidelity, Vanguard, UBS, Personal Capital, etc. It is unclear to me how much I contributed vs how much I earned by investing it.

The purpose of doing this is I want to use $10K of it, but want to prove that the $10K is from my contribution.

Been seeing many stories about big salary increases with counteroffers. Do people really get an interview with another employer, receive an offer and then present it to their current employer? Or they just tell their PML they receive an offer from Linkedin w/o actually going for an interview. Asking because I wonder how one continues to work at the same firm knowing you already had an interview with someone else.

I countered with a recruiter and they responded to my concerns and questions with “don’t worry about PTO days, I don’t even take them”, “you’re focused on the wrong things” (when speaking about health insurance costs), “I can’t see them going for that (my counter), let me see your experience again, 10 years hm”, “it’s really not an apples to apples comparison, this is a really good offer, don’t focus on that other stuff”. Don’t do this! I was leaning towards taking the job and now I may pass.
