I think the difference is that people recognize that things like polio and measles, etc. are actually dangerous. For most people, COVID just doesn’t pose any type of serious threat, so the question a lot of people are asking is, “why are we mandating something that isn’t necessary?”
I am vaxxed but after seeing recent announcements that schools may be mandating the vaccine and that boosters may be required potentially every 6 months I became fed up. Public health officials have been dishonest and are moving the goalposts. Unfortunately, there is no credible plan to eradicate covid. At this point, vaccine mandates are essentially laws being passed simply to guarantee that big pharma makes a ton of money. No thanks!
If you want or need the vaccine an boosters to protect yourself then great. Otherwise, let people be.

I agree C1. Something is starting to feel off. With goals being moved from "we don't want to over run the hospitals" to now vaccine mandates to even eat in a restaurant is a big shift. Government reps lining their pockets with the kickback from pharma doesn't seem too far-fetched.
Right wing propaganda is strong in this country

I mean, only rightwingers are being sued for $ billions in libel
Frankly, I don’t see why it *shouldn’t* be politicized. It’s a big deal. Forced medical procedures. Differing opinions on the danger posed by the virus. Lots of money to be made off the vaccines. Corruption. Various plans to address the virus, many which conflict with one another. Serious implications for our system/the role of government.
It seems to me that the ones complaining that it’s politicized don’t actually believe in democracy.

Inevitable as the entire pandemic response was highly politicized. Kushner even had an early strategy of “let it rampage, it will mostly affect blue states”. There’s no outcome from actions like that which don’t end up being politically charged.

You just have to listen to talk radio on the way into work and you'll know why.
Firstly, most of the vaccines you mention have been around for decades. There have been long term studies, because there has been enough time to do so. However, there was the (since debunked) “study” that vaccines caused autism (they don’t) and that had parents paranoid for a couple decades. (Check the Lancet and Harvard medical review if you are interested)
The public apprehension to vaccines is largely a residual effect of that one poorly designed study. Add that residual fear to politicians talking about medical unknowns and you have a scared, resentful population that have to lash out against “something”.
Masks and the vaccine have become the “something”.
I have a friend whose pediatrician told her years ago to never trust a vaccine until it’s been studied for 10 years. She refuses to take the shot. I desperately hope that she lives through the next 10 years.

I think the definition has changed over the past 9 months without my input. The talking points enumerated by Adobe are the same as before, just the people reciting them have shifted.

Probably because one side is largely demanding mandates?

So you’re saying it’s political because it is political? It was political long before vaccine and mask mandates.
Pretty simple. Stupidity
Rather than make it a political discussion it should be a public health discussion. Take your direction from people with expertise.
