Work in an amazingly unprofessional setting- coworkers wear headphones/earbuds at the front desk, heat up pungent food for lunch that permeates the entire staff office space, dress like it’s laundry day, socialize loudly (also at the front desk - maybe take the headphones off?) I can’t believe I’m required to have a masters and these folk are given the reins.

Anything wrong with using a suit jacket as a sport coat? Found a couple jackets (suit separates) that look good. I don’t wear my suit jackets without the pants though.

Working for a senior who is beyond horrible. She talks to you like you’re stupid and makes it sound like you’re absolutely terrible at what you’re doing. She’s made 5 other associates cry during her 5 year career. Got someone fired and made another person quit. It’s known around the office that she can no longer have a female associate, because she talks down to females more than she does males. I came along and thought I could deal with it but she literally makes me want to not log on tomorrow.

My natural instinct is to assume rejection if I have conflict with a partner or don’t think my feelings are reciprocated. I’ll try to bring it up with them, but I’ll say “if you want to end this feel free” so it doesn’t hurt me (and they can say what they really mean instead of sugarcoating). Someone told me today that they just assume I’m not interested because I always seem to “run” but I’m not sure how to bring up problems/feelings otherwise. How do you approach these hard questions?
