Anyone else still living at home? I’m 26 and have a decent amount saved from living and commuting into the city. Now that I’m making a decent salary I’d like to move out but with Covid seems a bit counter intuitive . I get along with my parents and everything but need my independence... also not great for dating , thoughts?

Anyone switch careers after 10+ years? I’ve been in advertising (account management) and now have a salary and title I’m decently happy with.. but I’ve always wanted to be a producer. Current situation (not TBWA) is toxic, so I’m thinking it’s time to pursue something new.

I'm in a bit of a pickle.

I'm interviewing for a CD position in-house and I have absolutely no idea what salary range to ask for. I have 6 years of experience, and am based in Australia. The company is known to pay quite well also, knowing to pay above market rate.

The range out there is so broad between agency and in-house, and I'm feeling a little overwhelmed, not to mention worried that I could either undersell myself or ask too much and not get the job.

What is the salary range for a GCD in Seattle and Chicago?

Interviewing with small agencies who want your big agency experience, etc. Do you negotiate salary assuming they have a lower range? Or do you shoot them a big agency figure? If lower, how much do you mark down?

Applied for a job on LinkedIn a month ago. Never heard anything. A recruiter reached out a week ago for the same job. I killed the interview and got an offer. I am so pissed off that my salary has to be reduced because the employer was too lazy or didn’t want to or didn’t have time to vet applicants. It’s infuriating and souring the offer for me.

What other countries than the US (I believe after reading salary posts here) do have good salaries? I love the country I’m living in but saving up money will take forever - has nothing to do with my spending but more with the lower salaries

For anyone who took a reduced salary for a reduced work week in this crisis: Is your agency honoring this arrangement? Do the people above you make sure you take the day? Or are they working you twice as hard but paying you less? Did they reduce your team as well and put you in a position where you had to pick up the slack and not honor their commitment to you?

I’ve never freelanced before but up for something. Do they usually ask hourly rate or day rate? If hourly, is it xx/hr with a minimum guarantee? Do you bill every hour you work?

What’s the average salary for an AD in NYC with slightly less than 2 years of experience as a junior? And yes I’ve seen that massive spreadsheet but while it does say years of experience, it doesn’t say if that salary came along with the title bump or additionally as a raise after.

When recruiting, why not start with the money talk?? Why do recruiters make you go through all the hoops and all the interviews and THEN talk about the comp? Seems like it’s the first box to check to make sure it’s even a match. Ugh.

My ECD was really pushing for me to get promoted to CD. Our group president wanted to see more townhall presentations by me and if I do so I can get promoted to CD in October, he promised.

Without transparent salaries, clear reasons why people are paid what they are getting paid and getting rid of the adversarial negotiation process, how do we know if people are getting paid less for being POC, or a woman? Whats basic salary range for a junior art director?

I’m, technically, a Jr but being paid as a Mid because I had a great mentor who believed in me. I’m now moving on to an actual Mid role but have no idea if I should ask for a higher salary because if I do, I’ll basically be asking for close to a Sr Creative’s salary.
