Hi, I was recently fired from my job (wasn't a great fit for the role) and I've been job hunting for the past two weeks. I mostly have government audit experience. I'm interested in public accounting. I've applied for some experienced associate roles online but haven't heard anything back regarding these applications or got an auto-reject email.

I have my 150 and passed the CPA exam. I'm interested in audit roles, either remote or hybrid to DC or Boston. LMK if your firm is hiring!

Question for any CPAs here who play video games in their free time as a hobby: Is it possible or impossible to be able to study/pass all 4 parts of the CPA exam and be able to have some time for video game leisure? If it is possible, then how did you do it?

Very curious as I am an avid gamer, but am realizing that it may be time to say goodbye to that for several months-to a year if I want to pass all exams in one try. I will appreciate any helpful feedback!

Compared to other countries equivalents, the CPA exam in the US is a joke.
In Germany you need at least 3 years of work experience in Audit/public accounting, before being qualified to sit the exams and act as a "cpa". In the big 4, passing the exams, will guarantee an instant promotion to Manager. The exam is considered to be the hardest professional/post grad exam in the country

Anyone looking for a good supplement to Becker or any course really. I’d highly recommend i75 Skinny Bundle. Darius Clark basically fills in the gaps that Becker does not. Went from a 55 on CPA exam to 80 after a month of studying with Darius. So just throwing it out there for you guys who are studying and looking for a good supplement.

How long did it take your CPA exam application to be approved? It has been over a month for me, but on my application status it is marked they received all my information. I checked the board meeting notes for the upcoming meeting and my name isn’t listed in the approve section. I am thinking my application is sitting in the denied file or processing is delayed. Just wondering what everyone else has experienced.

I am studying for the CPA exam and found out in June that I got a 47 on FAR. How did you get through the CPA exam?

If you sit for a CPA exam on the date a different one expires is that considered within the 18 month window? Or does the date need to be the day you get your exam results back? This is for Florida

Started public accounting with 130 credits and no intentions of staying in the field or taking the cpa exam because I knew it wasn’t the field for me and just needed to get my foot in the door. They asked how the exam was going so many times while I made senior but the said exam wasn’t even being studied for because I knew my plan. 🫣 just had to let that out.

Next summer I will be eligible to begin taking the CPA exams (graduating Dec 2023). Would you skip an internship to study for the CPA exam and take 2 tests at the end of the summer? Would you delay starting a job in Jan. to study for the next two (or whatever I have to retake)? I have a family so I’m worried about finding time to study after I start working. Thanks in advance.

Is Becker the best CPA prep platform or are they all the same? For those who passed the cpa exam while working full-time, how many hours did u study per day/week? Any tips on studying while working full-time? Thanks

Are there any CPAs that can help me understand the Illinois and Texas CPA exam (course) requirements? I’m a recent grad with a non-accounting background but am pursuing my master's in accounting. The program consists of 5 core courses with any electives you want to take until 32 credit hrs. So, I want to make sure I take the correct courses to sit for the CPA exam.

I looked it up through the Becker website but am still a bit confused.

Thank you in advance, I appreciate any feedback.

You guys. The cheating investigation happened 2 years ago. The majority of incidents happened several years prior to that. The majority related to internal training programs, some related to the AICPA ethics exam, NONE of it related to the actual CPA exam. EY has legal liability insurance that covers the settlement and fines were imposed on employees involved. So no this isn't something thats happening currently. No its not cheating on the CPA exam. No it's not affecting your raise. Calm down.

Probably doesn’t want people to know he still isn’t done with the exams. (Continued in comments)

Has anyone tried negotiating for paid time to study for the CPA exam during the work week? During summer when it’s theoretically less busy, just a few hours? We have the option to reduce our hours (and pay) in the summer to study, but that doesn’t sit right with me. The firm benefits financially from having more licensed employees, they should compensate you for that time (at least some of it!).

Does anyone know a lawyer that transitioned from big law to consulting? I haven't started big law yet (doing M&A and other corporate work), but I was wondering if it's possible to switch careers. I majored in business during undergrad and am eligible to sit for the CPA exam so I don't think comp skills should be an issue.
