Any tips on interviewing for a project management role when you only have account management experience?

Finished a round of interviews yesterday (was told I’m one of the final candidates); today I’m seeing the job posted on LinkedIn again… 🤔 As far as I know, LinkedIn doesn’t automatically repost jobs, so I’m venturing it’s not a good sign? (I understand, I’m overthinking it, but, the job search messes your mind up 😅)

I wish I knew why I’m not getting any jobs. I can secure decent temp work or projects here and there, but that’s it. I have many years of experience, but nothing award winning or anything like that. All the rejections and ghosting have been so freaking taxing. I’m amazed I’m as enthusiastic as I am when I do interview. Yet nothing pans out. I’m struggling to pay the bills. Help?

New to branding: what’s the standard process?

CW here who’s kinda new to branding. Curious to hear in broad terms how brand process works at small agencies (<15 people)? My design/brand shop has a pretty haphazard process that essentially hinges on interviewing client stakeholders and formulating the new brand around how they describe the current one. Doesn’t make a lot of sense to me but I’m too green here to offer other routes.

Why are we okay with agencies straight up lying about having a work-life balance when you interview.

I'm about to have my first ACD copy interview for in house at Bose. Currently senior copy with only about 2.5 years of experience in the industry plus about 6 years of other writing/creative experience plus a marketing masters.

Any advice? Any watchouts? Any reality checks?

Interviewing for an account executive position at a marketing agency and they are asking for a salary range following my initial interview. I was making $62k at my last job which seemed severely underpaid, especially in Los Angeles. I would be fine with $85k but would definitely be more comfortable with around $92k. Does anyone have insight of what the best response of a salary range would be?

I don’t want to under ask but I don’t want to lose the opportunity by asking for too much.

Art directors: if you have design projects that are old student work but show who you are and are really good .. how do you go about displaying your work in your book? As a separate tab? Case studies? Or as an “extra” grid view with no case study?

If you are at CD level, what do you expect from Senior AD that differentiates mid-level AD?

I’m asking because, been interviewing at this place and they are concerned that I don’t have enough experience to be a senior but they love my work.

Interviewing with company B. Company A reaches out late in the game and would prefer company A more. How do I push to have a condensed interview timeline?

Do you send thank you emails after interviews? I had 4 rounds of interviews with a company and didn’t end up getting it. They gave feedback that the team didn’t like that i didn’t follow up with thank yous. Does anyone really care? It’s 5 rounds of interviews, do you really need me to thank you for it?

Got notified on Wednesday I would be scheduled for final round of interviews. Nothing was scheduled yet. Follow up on Monday?

Recently interviewed for a role with a new agency and made it through the final round before the recruiter asked me to share references. While usually a positive sign, I was informed that they wouldn’t be able to extend an offer my way at this time. This one is a first for me, but would you say this is common within our industry? To receive nothing but positive feedback throughout the process only to be informed that they wouldn’t be moving forward feels like a waste of two months.

Any advice on putting together a winning case study for the big shows? I’m not really completely talking about a video. Filling out these forms is a pain in the ass! I’m on my own here. And the Effies alone seem to prove I’m not properly staffed to fill out any of this. Haha.

interviewing for a senior copywriter role, and found out the salary is lower than average (85-90K) because they offer bonuses and equity. is this something you’d consider? or should I still try to negotiate base salary?

Was told the gears were in motion for my promotion, but no sign of any concrete details. Now I’m getting hit up by agencies for ACD or senior writer on fun clients. I love my agency and would love to grow here but WWYD? At least take the interviews?

Anyone know if freewheel is a good company to work for? They’re looking to have my interviews this week and make a decision to hire by Friday. Not sure if the quick timeline is a red flag

Advice/suggestions please:
Let’s say you were interviewing for a global client lead role - at the holding co level - for one of WPP, Omnicom or IPG.

What questions would you ask in the interview phase?
What concerns would you have?
If you had your pick of essentially the same role at all three of those holding companies which would you pick? Or not pick?

Challenge: can you guess the salary of an in-house director/editor at a top-3 agency?

I am interviewing for this role and am unsure what industry standard is for this fairly unconventional job. Duties include directing spots for major clients (pharma, cars, etc) and editing most of my own work.

Is there an industry standard for this role?

Anyone else have recruiters reach out to say a role you’ve been interviewing for has been out on hold due until client budget forecasting for next year has been figured out? Assume they’re telling the truth but not entirely sure whether it is or in some cases if they’re just saying that as a soft way out for hiring someone else.

I just had an intro interview through a video hiring platform (so didn’t get to speak to a recruiter or any real person) and I feel like I didn’t do great at all. It felt awkward, I stuttered and they will obviously tell I was nervous. However, I know I’m a great fit for this job! 😭

There is no recruiter listed on the job description so I can’t reach out to anyone on LinkedIn without guessing they’re the recruiter for this job. Any advice on what I can do?

Just had an informational interview with Tik Tok for a strategist position. The interviewer could barely speak any English and it felt like he was reading a script and just regurgitating the job description. I felt like I was just talked at, wasn’t asked any questions and when I asked questions their responses were vague and unclear. Has anyone else had a similar experience with them??

How can I extend the interview?

I'm having interviews with two different places.

The first one keeps the process moving forward.

The second place, which I much prefer. I'll have to wait a few weeks to see if there are any opening positions.

Was ghosted by recruiter and 4th round of interview despite the last interview going well nbd. However, people from said agency keeps viewing my LinkedIn profile 😂🙃

If I left an agency right after doing a big project (I was involved in every step of the project from ideation to actual activation), but never got to see it through to the case study stage, can I link to the agency case study on my portfolio? Or should I just stick to imagery and trying to cobble something together with the footage I was able to get before leaving? Sorry if this is a silly question I’m just not sure what the etiquette would be here.

How do you get to speak on panels or get to be quoted/interviewed in articles?

what are your strategies for speeding up/slowing down interview timelines when you have two going at once? A is top choice, moving steady pace, slightly slow. B is mediocre choice, trying to fly through process

I keep getting to the final round of brand side interviews then losing out. Feedback when i get it is they want someone with more direct experience.

How do I mitigate this? I’m happy I’m getting so far that they must know I can do the job, but I’m wondering how to polish up my candidacy. In no rush to leave agencies ATM but want to prep for the day when I am.

Went through three rounds of interviews. And after the third round — silence. That silence is worst. Like taking the buggest wettest fart in the dark vaccuums of space. You give it your all, but in the end, nothing.
