How do I up my LinkedIn game? I’m a Miami Ad student trying to land a Junior CW role in NYC. I am blowing. Up. LinkedIn. Trying to reach out to every recruiter and CD at every agency I want to work for. I’ve gotten some bites, but how do I get out of “I like your stuff, I’ll send to my recruiter” pergatory? Worried I’m going to run out of people to reach out to before I even get an interview.

How do you rescind accepting a job offer without burning that bridge? Do you, or do you live with your decision? And if you do, how do you do it without burning the bridge with the company whose offer you accepted?

Context: Recently signed and accepted an offer somewhere I think I'd really like to work, but was approached today about an open role at Media Monks making at least $30k more than my accepted offer, possibly more. What would you do? Any advice? Beyond appreciated 🙏

I started a new job 4 months ago and know it’s not for me long term. Before I left my old job I had consistently talked to the company’s London office about opportunities. It was just bad timing overall and they couldn’t guarantee an inter company move at that time. I just saw them post a new role I would crush and reached out. I followed some great articles on best way to approach a company you had previously turned down (which I kinda did). Has anyone gone through something similar? 🤞🙃👀

For all of the (much needed) conversation around rethinking the hiring process, it’s amazing that so many agencies still choose to just ghost candidates who don’t move forward. Especially candidates who’ve gone through several rounds of interviews.

Turned 30, became an ACD, now facing burn out on month four. It’s a start-up so I have to be a project manager, packaging designer, production artist, photographer, copywriter, and big idea thinker. We’re looking to hire designers under me but I’m afraid that won’t solve what I’m feeling. Am I not set up for success or am I not ready for this? I’ve always dreamed of this position but now that it’s here, it feels bleak. Any advice appreciated.

Need help and guidance with a bit of a dilemma - have two agencies I'm interviewing with. One is further along in that, I've met the major players. The other is just starting (met with their HR). The further along one is a freelance/temp to perm. I'm assuming the other role would be perm. If the temp to perm comes through (I already know what $), do I take and then leave if the other offer is attractive? Don't want to burn bridges at all in this business. HELP!!

I came from a senior search analyst position at another agency and entered here as a new manager. I’m 3 weeks into the role so far - responsibilities and direction have been unclear for the new business I’m unsure of my day-to-day duties. Looks like they’re still hiring more people for my team but I’m not sure what I’m supposed to be doing? Is it because I’m newly hired there’s not much to do? I’m confused and no one is able to speak to me, it feels more isolating especially while remote

I also feel like I could have asked for more money, and am now worrying that I should have stuck it out at my old job and waited for a fully remote role instead of hybrid. Any advice on this situation?

Hey! 3yrs Digital agency strategist exp. running paid social & CPC Ads for primarily e-comm brands. I manage a small team and looking for new opportunities but I’m not sure what exact roles I should be searching/applying for that fit my experience/skill set. I’m experienced in strategy, analytics (GA, Data studio), budgeting, media buying & optimizing. Would this type of role fit under a “Strategist” type role or something similar? Thanks!

I left my cushy old ad agency (due contract ending in two months) and my friend persuaded me to join his small ad agency which i am not keen at first because i am transitioning to UX. got overwhelmed with the amount of work. (From 2 clients now i am handling 6 clients plus website, reporting etc) I had the similar long hours ad agency culture (work till wee hours , long meetings) not looking back to it again. Its only been a month. Should i quit right away and wipe the role off cv?

i have a direct report that is frequently referring to themselves by a higher title than what they really are and aren't happy that i can't formally upgrade them to that title until the next bonus / promotion round EOY. how do i manage this? i'm working with them on a dev plan to get them to that role in due time, but they're not ready yet.

I recently made a move for a better title and more money. The agency is great and I like the people but in some ways the role feels like a step down: fewer resources, more accounts, hands off manager. I used to have 2 jrs and 2 srs on my team, plus a boss who was always there for me. Now I have 1/2 of 2 jrs I can’t rely on to independently execute solid work. Do I start looking for another job? How can you even do that after just making a switch?

Is it worth sticking it out in a role that you know you’re not getting the right experience you want/not a good fit (at a small agency), to not seem like a flight risk/job hopper? I’m at the 7 month mark and not sure if I should stick it out to hit the 1 year point, before leaving.

I just found out I am being paid less than both of the people I manage ($6k and $10k less). The issue though is they both have a different job than me - they are project managers and I am in more of an overarching strategy role. But I do manage and represent my entire dept. I haven’t been at my company for a full year yet so negotiating my salary is hard (especially because we are very large and matrixed).

How would you approach this? Is this normal? I’m just feeling very frustrated.

Any creatives (specifically copywriters) who moved from agency side to client side willing to chat about your experiences? I’m considering a move but am not exactly sure if I’ll be able to do the work I want to. The role I’m up for is technically a copywriter role but it seems that the client side expectation of a copywriter is a little different from what I’m used to. Seems to be content writing, social, internal comms and little actual marketing campaigns for my portfolio. Is that how it is?
