I left KPMG about a month ago to be a senior leader in a smaller tech company's finance function. It isn't bad, get pretty great flexibility... but I don't think I like it overall. Considering taking a position with a small-cap in the US trying to build their legal department. The title is standard “counsel” although the work would be with the senior leadership team and reporting to the GC in Europe. How reasonable is it to ask for a bump in title - Senior counsel or Head of Legal, US? If it matters, I am a 6th year and have been told that I will be expected to hire a junior or paralegal as we build up.
