Underpaid? I’m currently working as a brand designer in-house but am more of an art director / senior designer role doing majority of the conceptualizing, photoshoot direction and content planning / creation for all emails, product launches and web design. 65k. Are there similar design salaries out there? What should i request when i’m promoted to Senior BD? Should i look somewhere else?

Anyone know of shops hiring juniors? My search has been pretty tough. Looking for a junior AD gig literally anywhere in the US

ACD interviewing with agencies for CD/ACD role. Then some brand recruiter emailed me about an Art Director position. Huh? 🤔 Do they even look at your resume or portfolio before reaching out?

I'm thinking about moving from New York to London. I have 7 years of experience at ad agencies. I'm looking at jobs like "marketing manager" at a brand or tech company or hybrid operations/growth roles. I'm not sure I could jump to a biz dev director role in an entirely new market, which is why I'm looking at generalist roles where my experience would count. From an initial search, it seems like London salaries are significantly lower than New York. Any recommendations on how to navigate this?

Junior here. Just graduated college and not too happy with my portfolio pieces. I know overall my portfolio needs so much work and it makes me upset that I’m in this position. I see so many fresh out of college from the same school i went to landing jr positions with amazing books. How? I feel like I didn’t really gain ad experience until my senior year of college. Anywhere hiring JR or Midlevel AD in Chicago?

Applying for an S&O role. As a consultant, don’t have experience in the ad tech industry per say. How do I avoid sounding like an outsider?

Interviewing at Accenture in two areas next week: Account Manager Creative and Brand Marketing and
Content Experience Manager at Accenture Interactive

The former sounds exactly like what I do now at an ad agency but on the in house agency team with Accenture being the “client”. Lots of execution work. The latter is more about answering RFPs for existing clients and developing some strategy and like 30% execution. I’m leaning toward the CEM role.

Did you have trouble balancing between chasing better work/agencies and finding peace where you were at when you were new? I’ve been freelancing (at some great places) since ad school got out in March 2020 but am completely run ragged from the constant 24/7 job hunt and financial insecurity. Nothing really consistent. Just took an FT role at a small shop, hoping it’ll free some headspace but can’t let my mind rest. Still so obsessive about getting into a great place FT. Can’t turn it off.

I never saw myself in health but with many agencies having hiring freezes I decided to get some experience and save up some money in the meantime. Fast forward one year; I’ve added a new campaign to my website and I’m starting to apply to consumer agencies again.
Any tips to help me make the transition? Any place to avoid? Who have you noticed is hiring again? Thanks in advance :)

Is S&E a hard role to break into? I'm probably an SM/AD level in industry, but all roles I see in industry advertised want director/senior director level, with 5+ years of direct experience.

How long did it take you to get into a senior position (e.g., senior strategist, senior art director, etc.)? Please include all years of experience including internships.

Roles: Art director (2-4 yrs), copywriter (mid-sen. lvl), senior designer (4+yrs), media supervisor (mid-sen lvl).

I graduated a few weeks ago and accepted a role for an art direction internship at a good agency but not somewhere I love. They only gave me a day to sign the offer letter, so I did because I didn’t have other immediate options. But a few days later an agency I love reached out to me about a Jr. AD opening. I’ve now done 4 interviews and have another call next week. How bad will it be to pull out of the internship right as it’s starting if I get this offer for a full time job?

I work at a small agency. I asked for a raise and was told you can get one in a few months if you do X,Y,Z but also keep in mind you make (on the low end of) what your position should make.

My question is—I wear many hats within my agency because we’re small and growing—So while I may be an art director, when needed I’m also a PA, or a production designer etc... SO shouldn’t my salary reflect that??
