Is anyone here friends with their fellow colleagues? I started a remote job several months ago and no one goes into the office. We see each other over zoom and have the occasional group meeting in person. I’d like to get to know these people better and grabbing lunch or a coffee is doable but I’m wondering what has worked for others in a remote world?

How do you keep yourself green on teams/Skype?

Those of you who have used both Slack and Teams, which one do you like more?

I have an intro call with an Accenture recruiter about a job I was referred to, next week, typical intro calls are 10-15 minutes and on a cell phone, but guess this is on Zoom for 30 mins. How should I dress (tie, button down, suit jacket) and what should I expect in the call?

I know this these are pretty basic question, but haven't interviewed in 2 yrs and this is my first remote interview sooo figured I'd ask the bowl.

Webex new thumb reaction looks disgusting

Just started a new job and on the first zoom meeting my manager called me out and said “why do you look so serious?” Confused I just said I was focusing lol and then they said “you should smile more, it looks better on you”. Honestly felted weird after this encounter as I have never met this person before this meeting. Definitely made the vibe strange especially since there was 15+ in this zoom room lol

I interviewed with a Firm in New York over zoom which was with an associate and two partners. Now they are requesting a second interview. I am from Florida so the interview process is different from what I have experienced. Any thoughts?

At my company we are going fully remote and we are trying to determine what “remote working best practices” we can enable for our employees.

I’m coming to you all today to ask what has worked best for you that has allowed work to be more seamless?

For example we have toyed around with the idea of “no zoom meetings unless absolutely necessary. Otherwise all communication is to take place over email/Instant Message.

Interviewer asked in middle of the interview that Is your notice period negotiable.. In mid of the interview another manager joined over zoom and he was in hurry to join some meeting, asked 2-3 questions and then he left...in the end interviewer said that If he want to take another round with him else will go HR session ...is it a positive sign?

Ive hit a breaking point. Ive now been on multiple projects, back to back to back, where I’m being expected to pull 13 hour days to pick up the slack for others or meet some ridiculous unrealistic deadline. I want to push back, but with layoffs happening everywhere I’m kind of terrified. Any advice?

Does the Skype notification sound haunt anyone else’s dreams?

I’ve got $100 for anyone that’ll hop on a call / zoom for an hour to walk me through the process to list a product on Amazon. Can’t get past it.

My firm has a Zoom account. For whatever reason, the partner in charge of technology won’t let us use it, and forces us to use Microsoft teams instead. Every time I book something on Microsoft teams, I always have problems, especially when I’m working with other firms. I keep requesting the account log in, and all I get is “Teams works just fine, if it’s not, call IT (which is one guy who is unresponsive most of the time). What the actual fuck? If we have the resource, why can’t I use it?

Hello…looking for opinions on my situation. I applied for a senior sales position in a completely different industry (stretch target, but worth a try.) The job responsibilities are what I do today so I’m qualified on paper, but their industry experience is “preferred”. I’ve been invited to interview which is great but I’m going straight into a 4-person panel Zoom interview, which includes a couple of senior management people. No BS HR screening call. What’s are your thoughts on this?

Does anybody else feel like Zoom is hurting them in job interviews? I personally am far more charismatic in person than I am hunched over talking to a webcam.

Anyone have thoughts on a MDM on your personal phone? I want to be able to check my email/slack on my phone but I don’t want my company to also have all this access to my personal device. Can anyone give insight if I’m overthinking this or if it’s a definite “No”.

Is just sitting in home office and sometimes having client interactions via zoom really the future? Is this really desirable? Im totally missing the business/travel vibe, which my job once had. How are you all thinking about the changes since Covid?

I would like to move to another job that can pay higher. I don't mind staying in CS but do CS jobs really pay higher than this? Should I be looking for something else that can pay me 6 figures?

People often tell me I need to speak up, and I just have a habit of speaking at the volume comfortable to me, but apparently that's too quiet for people.

I know the obvious answer is to talk louder, but it feels weird, unnatural, and performative to speak up. Not a confidence thing, I just tend to talk to people at volumes similar to siri, zoom calls, or thinking out loud, and that's too quiet for people in real life. Have any fellow quiet people overcome similar issues? What worked for you?
