Im totally stuck at work; my boss has stopped me from growing (not allowing me to try new things like sit in on mediation, attend depos or hearings or write different pleadings) and is constantly criticizing me. I want to make myself as attractive to other firms as possible but I feel limited in my skill set since I’m limited at work. What other ways can I gain skills at work? Write articles? The recent most billable hours post, inspired me. What is your longest billable day? Mine was 56 hours straight with no break—and the partner was more than a jerk when I was saying no more at the 30 hour point. That was two 24 hour billable days back to back on my time sheet and on the bill, a 360 hour month, and 650 aggregated for two months. And it is one reason (of so many reasons) why this job can suck so much! At least I got a good bonus...

Can we talk designations a minute? I'm at the agency level now and would like to move to a company underwriter. If I'm going to add some designations to my portfolio, which would be the best? I don't think jumping right into CPCU is the right way to go. I can earn my CIC and then pursue a CRM or CPRM. I don't think I want to do the CISR since that won't do much for me if/when I move to underwriter. Is there something else I should consider? Do designations matter at the company level?

Hi, I received an offer from a tech company last week. I went ahead and accepted because I didn’t have any competing offers. However, another company now offered me significantly more. I didn’t have this offer when I accepted the previous one. I still like the tech company. Is it ok to ask them to match the new offer after accepting? I didn’t know that I would even receive another offer as the other company had not responded back at all. The difference is $70k b/w the two offers. Thanks
