After an accident, I need a car, balancing affordability with safety. I mostly drive for errands, gym, and occasional office visits. Net Income: $5K/month; Savings: $60K; Monthly expenses: $3,600.
Preferences:
- Honda, Toyota, Mazda, Acura/Lexus. Blind-spot monitoring, CarPlay.
- Financing: My credit union offers savings for 2023+ models under 30k miles. Also interested in new car APR
Options: either older used car (10k-15), moderate used(20k-25k ) or new
How much car can I afford?

Stay away from Mazda they have done down hill lately we have nothing but problems with our 2021 Mazda6. We had two other Mazda6’s before that with no issues.

I know you’re not asking about cars and instead finances but Mazda will end up costing more than just the standard maintenance and purchase price.

you should be able to find a good used honda / toyota for 15-20k. i wouldn’t get a loan for it, pay cash.

like

Yes but I’ve seen some with a lot of miles 60k + also I can only afford an sedan in that range. No suvs and I was thinking an SUV may pay off in the long run such as if I start a family. But I may be jumping the gun

Already doing things like maxing out all tax advantage accounts for the past 3 years and no debt. I just don’t want a car payment fringing on my hobbies, and savings. I want to save for travel, interest and investments. But I am not sure if u am being too cheap getting an older cheaper car. Also want the cf to last and not look too ugly haha

My company can get you a new car with lesser payment process and quick financing.Dm
