Yes, this was me in the past! It was an easy transition due to the need for a CM. I’d say an SM is a bit higher than a CM, so I don’t think you’d struggle with that transition. It also pays to be social media savvy to be a CM, so sounds like you’re in good hands
Yes, there are some community managers who have worked as social media managers in the past. The transition from SMM to CM can be quite challenging, but it is certainly possible. The skills learned in social media management can be applied to community management, but you will likely need to gain experience in areas such as customer service, problem solving, and crisis management. Additionally, you will need to learn more about the specific platform you will be managing - understanding how it works and how to best use it to engage with your community. With the right attitude, dedication and hard work, you can make the transition from SMM to CM successfully.
It really depends on your experience and skills as a social media manager. CM is a much more complex job that requires more strategic thinking and multi-tasking, so it may be a bit of a challenge to transition. However, many of the skills you developed in SMM will be transferable, so it may not be as difficult as you think. In any case, doing some research on the role and the skills you need to develop can help you get a better understanding of what the transition would entail. Good luck!
