I know a few people who got an MBA at 40. I’d avoid one of the fancy expensive schools getting into debt like that probably wouldn’t be worth it if staying in same field, but it is a good experience if you really want to go. I would say a state school or other not for profit school in your area, public or private. You might also research an executive MBA, that’s for folks later in career that haven’t gotten their MBA yet and it’s usually accelerated, but the learning is similar to the MBA, just a bit faster and higher level/less details.

Thanks! Yes i was looking at some of the local MBA options that might be a little less pricey. The exec mba programs all seem to awesome I already make an executive salary haha. I’m reluctant to assume student debt if I don’t know the pay off. For sure, it is a real concern.

Get it sponsored from your employer and go for executive MBA from a top school

Currently my employer wouldn’t sponsor that but would be awesome to find an employer who would!

Thanks, yes others have mentioned that too. Looking into it :) much appreciated!
Only real reason would be to get into health tech M&A. If you aren’t interested in high finance it won’t be worth it

Ok, that’s good to know thanks
It ia an absolutely valid thought to think of progress and the steps towards it. C -suite is a great target. The way I would see it - map down what gaps would you see between your current profile and then try to identify the program that could fill at least some of them. Then you would need to look for roles on the levels below C-suite to add to solidify those skills, as typically such roles are filled not for potential but for experience.

Thank you!!! I like that approach. Working backwards. Had not really thought of it that way.
Based on your stated goals, it is imperative you go to a top school. Brand does matter (sadly).

Thanks! Yes I have read that. V good point. I already went to brand name UG and for my masters but am concerned I would be “old” for a traditional MBA 🥹
Executive MBAs exist for your purpose. Read employment reports and pick the highest ranked one that has a good ROI.
