Are your parents disappointed ?

Why do we always tell people “Be the best version of yourself before starting a relationship?”
I feel this is wrong…first, if you’re someone who constantly wants to be better, this doesn’t work. Also, what happens when you’re going through things and you’re not the best version? What happens is…the going gets tough and then one person leaves the other.

I don’t understand how someone can lie about loving you for 6 months. We were together for almost a year (broke up a week before our anniversary). I said I love you first and he said it back. I asked for more reassurance last month with saying I love you more often. Now all of a sudden he said he didn’t know if he loved me and that love meant marriage for him. Okay well great thanks for telling me this now, 6 months after it was initially exchanged. I don’t understand how he could do that.

I just wanted to take a quick moment to say that you are all doing a great job with this ridiculous, unprecedented juggling act of trying to be a parent, teacher, lawyer and human. Hang in there!

Even after you left the narcissistic ex ten years ago, finalized the divorce six years ago… they still come at you. My child who splits their time between us left his ID at my place… the ex calls the police stating I refuse to return the ID… will it ever stop?

Realizing that I am way too old for nights

My bf & I will be moving in together for the 1st time after dating for 5 years. He hasn’t been any help through the whole searching, budgeting process & tbh I feel alone. I’m exhausted, stressed & feel like I’m drowning. I’ve voiced my concerns over being the only one involved but his excuse is that he’s stressed. When I call him about a new listing etc he seems annoyed & disinterested. I will also be paying for more since I make more but due to his salary most apts in said budget (cont)

I am going through a divorce right now. I currently have a (my) family member stay with me to help take care of my children (until the divorce is finalized). My ex is oppose to my family member staying in the same house and decided to serve a notice to vacancy. However, I live in CA (community property state), and both of our names are on the title. Does my ex have any legal grounds to take such action to evict my visiting family member?

Have you ever taken a job you know you will hate because you needed the money right away? I have a family to take care of. I don't want to be plowing through our savings for selfish reasons like my mindframe at work, but I don't want to make our lives worse by being miserable. It's a matter of really ruining some of our financial future if we don't get money soon.

How do you deal with your boyfriend still being friends with someone he slept with before? Kind of bothers me but not sure if it’s normal....

A guy who is claiming to be in love with me (a black woman and immigrant), is a conservative (pro-trump, anti-gun laws, denies that there is racism etc). Are those red flags to make me cut him off?

I just wanted to reach out and let you all know I understand how tired and beat down we all feel at this point in the year. I’m feeling it too. I also know exactly how students can try us. What I’m working on every day though is to see my kids as God does… not the kids that know how to push buttons and drive me crazy, but as the beautiful lives they are, all deserving of the best we can give them every day. I know it’s not easy, but that’s what I’m working on.

Hi SP’s! Anyone here have experience with telling their child about the divorce and how he will never have certain things (like daddy sleeping over or mommy sleeping over) etc? I really need some guidance right now. Feeling really broken as my son (5) is constantly battling his feelings of wanting to be with mommy vs daddy. He often tells us, “when I’m with mommy, I miss daddy. When im with daddy, I miss mommy!” And would often cry bc he can’t have us both. We try to co-parent and be in (cont)

I have pretty strong social phobia and am worried about making friends. I'm going to be working for an engineering company so I imagine I don't have to be really up on the latest trends or anything but how can I talk to people without making it sound unnatural?

We recently sleep trained our 7 month son. He went from waking up multiple times during night and taking only 30 minute naps 3 times during day (most cases nursed to sleep or rocked to sleep or took a drive) to sleeping 12 hours at night without interruption and two 2 hour naps and one 45 minutes nap during day. We both love that he is getting enough sleep and well rested on one hand. On the other hand, we are now wondering if he is sleeping way too much.. contd…
