COVID has made my entire life better and I feel so guilty. I bought a house. I got a new remote job and it was a big raise and promotion. I got married. I got my personal life back and dumped a 2.5 hr daily commute. I paid off my student loans. I feel like I won the lottery.

Don’t listen to the haters. I’m happy for your good fortune and feeling guilty about it is a sign you’re plugged in and not taking it for granted.

There is a lot that is measurably better (albeit weirder) in my life too. (And a lot that’s worse! It’s like life is complex or something?!)

Fuckin’ A, dude! that’s awesome! I’m not in your shoes, but love to hear positive stories and know there’s some hope.

A lot of people are struggling right now in the exact end of the extreme so maybe keep this sentiment to yourself and celebrate with your nearest and dearest. As someone who has been outbid now on 10 homes and cancel their wedding three times, I really cannot jump for joy at a post like this.

Lololol the cookies and cakes blew up this chain. But congrats, OP!! 👌

Happy for you dude as well. Don’t feel guilty, just keep it to yourself and enjoy it. We all have ups and downs in our lives, but we experience it in different times. But, I will say this, if you can, try to give back. Help people who aren’t having a great year feel that happiness.

Perhaps you can introduce an unemployed person to some of your connections or maybe donate some money to a Covid charity, idk just ideas to make a difference. Happy for you. I want to be where you are one day.

like

Absolutely agree. We rebuild from all this #@$ by giving back.

A huge upside of the pandemic is not having to meet all those toxic people we only ever get to meet at work. When this happens, everything else just follows!

I’ve had, for the most part, an amazing 2020 as well. I also had a completely garbage 2019. Life ebbs and flows. It’s not your fault that things are going well for you. Just be thankful, patient with those struggling, and pay it forward as much as you can.

like

I’m happy for you!

like

That’s awesome. I feel similar. It brought my partner and I closer. We are saving money to buy a house. I love working at home. I’m so happy there are people thriving. It’s hopeful. We’re all on our own path and we have to make the best of it.

like

Happy for you, congrats!

Change always has both a positive and negative outcome. For the majority the year has been negative, but its obvious that some portions will have to fair better than others. Your plate seems full on the positive and maybe what you needed was a significant enough change to cause all the other dominoes to fall. Be happy with the good things. Covid will pass one day soon, and all those good things you mention are life advances that should happen in spite of it all.

like

Congratulations! I only did like two from your list!

like

Congratulations! I too got a new job, have had time to do things around our home, now have time to spend with the hubby. Don't let these folks make you feel bad. You should be able to celebrate good things that happen in your life. There will always be misery, just the way the world works. Stating what has happened isn't the same thing as rubbing it in peoples faces. The same way people come on here complaining of all the bad things you should be able to celebrate the good.

Guess that means the other shoe will drop soon.

Well moron good for happy gilmore!!

Anyone ever have experience negotiating a new offer to include unvested 401k match and stock grants from your current employer? This would be at a global director level.

I'm 26, I studied economics but I don't know why I'm not much into investing/trading. Someone else like this?
I recognize this is not a very good approach for someone with money "knowledge" and I would like to change this mindset. My main weakness is that I easily get bored of following the market and that I do not see big opportunities. Any advice?
Where to start learning, general advice for LT and ST investments, things you learnt, books that changed your pov on the topic etc.

Thx!
