In your opinion, what are all the elements that turn a regular hotel into a great one?

I am debating doing a solo trip (no idea to where) but I’ve never done one before. I’m scared it’ll be super lonely and I’m not sure how dining alone would be. I am also worried about safety (I’m a woman in my early 30s). Most of my friends are married with kids and I’m single so hard to plan a trip with friends, this the solo trip idea. Any tips / thoughts? Budget isn’t really an issue.
