I got diagnosed with ADHD 2 years after getting sober. There’s quiet a lot of folks on my network who have experienced the same thing. The diagnosis was so freeing for me. Much like being an alcoholic, there’s not really a cure - but for me, putting a name to some of the challenges I was experiencing really helped and I found a network (much like AA) to support me on my journey.
I have been officially diagnosed now, and I completely relate. Between quitting drinking and finding this out, the constant cloud of shame has lifted. It explains so much about my life. All the things about me I thought were personal failings or weak character.
