My tendency when I was burned out at work was to sleep in as long as I could to avoid the stress. What works better for me is working up early to do NOTHING. No gym, no emails, just a cup of coffee and a podcast or book. It makes me feel like work is a part of my life, in the middle of the day, sandwiched by my “actual” life in the morning and evening (as opposed to work taking over all your waking hours and you feel the weight of it having consumed your existence).
Pray to Jesus to guide me through the day
Make time to go for a walk or incorporate movement of some kind (yoga, stretching) for 10-20 minutes. Journal. Breath work. (I struggle to make the last two a routine).
Listen to some music
Pantera should work
Some people swear by a 5-9 before their 9-5. That’s too much for me
What I do is give myself 20 minutes of nothing. I keep those under eye gel pads in the fridge and so I wake up w alarm, open blinds to get sunshine, put on those, gratitude journal (write 3-5 things I’m grateful for) & then just chill in bed for last bit before I *HAVE* to get up. Scroll on phone or stare out window. It’s enough to feel like I did something for myself without being Rocky Balboa
Download the Calm app and meditate. It has helped me a TON. I swear by it. Trust me and give it a go
I like listening to the Daily Jay.
Call out.
Seriously tho! Always down for a self-care mental break day!
CrossFit 7am classes the days i wfh. As someone with adhd all their life, I swear by this, gets me motivated for my day & I swear all the stress out during my workout.
I come home for a hot shower, break out the hot coffee by the balcony/backyard, and then proceed to work
I wake up about 3 hours before I am suppose to login. The plan is to do some devotional reading/thinking, do my facial routine, some stretching, and I might study. It does seem to set me up for success for the day but if it’s a busy work day then I’m ready for a nap after work.
Make sure you keep your boundaries with work life.
Mine is that my weekends are for me, no work. I try not to think about pending items on Sunday.
I also keep a to do list so that I don’t waste brain power trying to keep organized.
Daily Affirmations will help
Microdose
I blast screamo while driving the speed limit on the highway in the lane next to the HOV lane. Highly recommend.
working out. quick exercise. 15 min walk
Music
Bong rip
I pray and write down scriptures to start my day before I do any work.
If you’re thinking of affirmations, there’s the I Am app. It will look like you need to subscribe, but you don’t need to. You’ll just see some adds every once in a while.
movement and meditation first thing in the morning changed my stress levels pretty fast!
movement: stretch before leaving the bed. i personally just get out from the under the covers and touch my toes, child’s pose, & other light stretches before getting up
meditation: youtube has a ton of free guided meditations or sounds you can play in the background that’ll reduce your stress. i do a meditation each morning before i get out of bed also + while i work, i play calming frequencies
hope this helps!!
Daily self care. Eliminate other stressors in your life. Eat well. Drink enough water. Get good sleep. Have a healthy outlet you love that helps you blow off steam.
