Due to pandemic, I cannot attend a conference in-person and will miss the in-person networking that is critical to business development. Brainstorming ways to effectively connect virtually with in-house counsel. What are some ways outside counsel (folks you have never met) could get your attention? For example, if outside counsel sent you a Starbucks credit or an UberEats credit with an invitation for a 15-min coffee Zoom or 30-min lunch/chat n’ chew Zoom - would you accept?

To be honest, I don’t think this is a good idea. We get gift card emails like this all the time from vendors and it comes across as very spammy. Focus on natural connections you have (law school classmates and alums) and thought leadership. If we’re talking about BigLaw, the only things that factor in are your experience and long-standing bonds/trust (not something that cold call coffees can do).

Thank you! 🙏🏽

I dont hire OC due to gifts. I hire them based on expertise. Get on panels, get in front of people with thought leadership.

How do I leave my role as someone on the talent team. I am on a small recruitment team of only a few people, who connect daily. I am also responsible for sending out updates tracking new hires and upcoming leavers (aka I would be on this list if i decide to leave). If I am looking to leave my company, considering all of these things, how do I do it in the least awkward, most professional way possible? I want to put in at least a two week notice, but will continuing my work after that be weird?

Generally curious how many companies offer phone reimbursement? My last gig did not but the current one does. What would be a typical salary for a junior in house counsel role (3 yoe) at a publicly traded company in a secondary market (think Austin, Tampa, Charlotte)? I’m having a really hard time finding what a reasonable range would be. Most positions I’m applying to require desired salary in the application, and the truth is I’d accept anything north of 125k but don’t want to undersell myself and take a bigger cut than necessary coming from biglaw.

How far do you require depts be with negotiating commercial contract terms before your legal review? I’m talking routine low value and risk contracts (e.g., vendor services), where Legal terms won’t kill the deal. My clients blindly forward contracts.
