Feeling like I wasted time studying for and passing the CPA exam when I'm going to be leaving the firm within the next couple of months to pursue my dreams of being a business owner.

You will just be a more credible business owner

A CPA license is a great credential to have, and you've come this far. Why quit right before you validate the past X years you've been working towards this.

like

You may end up coming back to accounting or starting a business in the future that you can use your CPA with. In the meantime, the CPA adds credibility to you as a business owner. Not a waste at all. Never hurts to have additional credentials especially when you're young. It gets harder to get those credentials as you get older.

like

You'll be glad you have it when the next recession hits.

like

No no the license is valid

What are you leaving to do?

5 or 10 or 20 years from now it might come in handy, too.

I'm SVP/strategy for a PR agency. I moved into PR, Healthcare, and Strategic Planning only 3 years ago. An agency recruiter is trying to convince me to move into a GSVP account role, assuring me "at that level it's all strategy." (I dont think she understands the words she's using. Or that I'm qualified). But long-term, knowing account roles are so much more plentiful than brand planning in PR, I'm wondering if I should start thinking about account. Anyone here moved from strategy to account?

Does anyone have a similar experience? I interviewed with recruiters from two of "Big 4". Both interviews went well, and I was told the recruiters will submit my resume to the partners and senior managers for the next interviews. 3 weeks later, I received the rejection letters without the next interview. I wonder why the partners even not bothered to interview me. If it matters, I am a CPA with 3 years non-PA experience and applied for experienced associate positions. I appreciate any insights.
