In Texas....here a family session with patient pays about the same as a 45 minute session (to my knowledge you can only use family therapy code and it doesn't equate for 30 vs 45 vs 60. Family session without patient pays about 10-15 less per session. hope that helps!
In Colorado, (this is statewide from what I’ve heard) insurance pays less for family or couples’ work. If you don’t accept insurance, you can pretty much charge how you wish, but prepare for complaint of course.
Relational sessions are always paid less thru insurance, which is bizarre cuz they are harder than individual sessions. I worked in IN, FL and MN, all the same.
Yes. For whatever reason insurance companies have decided all family or couples sessions are only 45 minutes. Quite arbitrary and one reason it's hard to find practioners that will take insurance and do family work.
