Thank you!
I’ve been trying to get into the top tier Associate Product Marketing Manager position Google for some time now for just an interview and I feel like business majors somehow have such a stronger chance in getting interviewed especially my business school and I feel really discouraged as an Econ Major and I have a lot of marketing experience that I’ve built over the years. Are there any non-business majors in the tech realm in non technical positions at Google that can advise me?

There are ways you can still go about doing this without the barrier to entry that standard medical doctors face. I’m going to chiropractic school and will practice chiro, functional medicine, and nutrition. I’m a strong critic of conventional medicine and the conflicts of interest and lack of preventative training or addressing of root causes that take place among standard medical doctors so it’s perfect for me. It will take 3 years, no MCAT required. Explore your options, it’s never too late to do something meaningful with your life
C2 - I really want to believe (as I agree that western medicine tends to be too invasive, too quickly) but preventive medicine (eat healthy, exercise, etc) is legit the first thing you’re taught in med school so that’s not something solely in the realm of alternative.
Also, not exactly sure what to make of some of your comments:
“Not only is chiro very legitimate, it’s necessary for every single person in our current society...” - please show me the RCT that supports this statement. Please no anecdotes about what you’ve seen, but actual studies. Because what I saw was that for patients 66 and above, with neck pain and who presented to a chiro as opposed to a PCP, there was an 82% increase (5.1 vs 2.8 per 1000) in incidence of stroke within 30 days (source: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S016147541400267X), likely due to VBA rupture caused by manipulation
“Alternative medicine is legit just eating healthy and having a healthy lifestyle” - so how does chiro and what others have classified “mumbo jumbo” fit in here?
“Alternative medicine means anything other than conventional medicine....you can’t really overgeneralize” - is it not just eating healthy and having a healthy lifestyle? Hard to overgeneralize if so & both of these things are advocated for by conventional mds
“Conventional doctors simply don’t have the training to identify and address root causes” - Sure, don’t go to an orthopedic surgeon to diagnose your cold but how do you justify telling people not to overgeneralize with alternative medicine (which AFAIK has no RCTs demonstrating greater benefit than placebo) but then say the above with regards to conventional medicine?
Finished med school, did part of a residency and now in consulting....pretty happy I didn’t stay and have many friends who wish they’d jumped when I did.
I always tell people “unless medicine is the ONLY thing you can see yourself doing, do anything else.” Consulting isn’t perfect either but I enjoy having more than 4 days off a month and not referring to having both Saturday and Sunday off as a “golden weekend"
Thank you. I still think it’s a respectable and limitless profession in how you want to work your degree. Is medical school as difficult as the public makes it out to be?
That’s the blessing and the curse. Your work may feel meaningless (most of it probably is from my experience) but, if you mess up, nobody dies
Coming from a family and extended family of mostly doctors the one piece of advice I received consistently was ‘don’t go into medicine’. Maybe that was just their five negative experiences but the grass isn’t always greener. Even when you feel like a profession is your calling you still may end up miserable.
Deloitte 2: Ditto! My dad drilled that into me starting with when I began making rounds with him at the age of 4
I often think if I had the brain I’d def be a doctor. I’m with you, OP. There are many other ways to have a meaningful life thou (e.g., volunteer, pro bono projects)
Doctors are very depressing. My best friend is one and he has no remorse for people dying. It’s part of the job and all they talk about is how many hours they have to work and how inconvenient patients are. It’s a shitty life
Well, you could still become a doctor

When you leave and your position gets repurposed....
Having married a doctor I am so thankful that I did not go that route. Way more work and no pay till you are almost 30
Hell no.
I don’t seek gratification through my means of attaining funds. Payday is gratification enough.
