FTM of one month old twins. We currently have a baby nurse (24 hours), but I am DREADING her departure date (in about 6 weeks). I’m terrified of losing all independence and not being able to anything for myself bc I have to watch the babies and feed them all the time. My husband is taking leave after I take mine. What do other twin parents suggest? I’d like to be able to run to the grocery store and go to the doctor.

I assume you don’t have family nearby (I didn’t). Hire part-time nanny help. Your husband will probably need it when he’s on leave too. It’s an intense and overwhelming time, and you need to be able to take a daily “break” to take care of your own basic needs.

How does one get a baby nurse? Will insurance cover it?

Usually through word of mouth. And no, baby nurses are not medical professionals. It’s an informal term for individuals who professionally take care of newborns.

You need a full time nanny, probably with another house helper or cleaner / part time nanny, with twins even if one parent is on leave. Any friends who had two kids close in age under 3 or twins had multiple grandparents + full time live in nanny + housekeeper + one parent on leave and they were barely above water the entire time even so.

It's like you need to tier down from full time baby nurse to maybe someone half days to help with clean up, give you a break, and maybe let you take a nap, etc.
