Bain & Company Hi All. I am an Energy Engineer and 3 years of experience. I want to switch to a management consultancy because I think I would be a good fit for strategy consulting and want to move into ESG/Climate Financing. I would love to interview with your team if you’re looking to hire someone with this background (happy to share more via DMs).
The purpose of this post is to also ask for referrals so please let me know if I could reach out to you for that. TIA! McKinsey & Company Bain & Company Boston Consulting Group

“I’d love to talk about salary, but I need to know more about the role first. Let’s chat."
This was asked earlier and people liked my take, so here. With original typos.
First rule: Never divorce salary from your value. Every single phrase you utter or type about compensation should be part of a selling point. “With my unique background in sports marketing AND energy drinks, I’ve earned my way to the top of the pay scale for Creative Directors in the Chicago market.”
Rule 2: Never divorce salary from the rest of the compensation package. “I’d love to bring my expertise with big box retail to your team, and I’m confident I could make an immediate impact, but for this position to make sense, the compensation package would have to be very competitive, in line with top tier Creative Directors in the Chicago market."
Ask for their range or point to the standards of the market you’re in? Idk, I’m always curious as to what others do in this situation as well.
When they ask my requirements I ask them what the salary range is for the job. Almost always get an answer. I can either say yes cool that’s within my expectations or hmm because of xyz this range is more within my expectations.
Lots of good advice here on pushing the conversation to a later stage. I take another approach...I tell them what I’m looking for. I know the market rates for my role and what I’m worth so I tell them what I want to be happy. Let’s than know what they need to hit immediately.
