I’ve seen this happen with a number of my colleagues, I don’t think it’s that abnormal.
They said the door was open for me to come back but it wasn’t or much more difficult to come back. try going back to see.
I did this about a year after I left - went to an extremely toxic workplace and then my old company reached back out with a new opp about 9 months after I left. As long as you left originally on good terms I don’t think it’s bad at all to go back! Makes you appreciate it much more - just make sure you still negotiate salary as a “new position” if you can.
It’s doable but why would you. You left for a reason right? I mean unless you can honestly say you loved everything about the place except they wouldn’t pay you what you were worth. I have fond memories of old agencies but I’d rather experience something new than keep going back to the same old safe and familiar sweater.
did you need for any accountat from home ?
It depends on what they thought of you before you left. I’ve seen multiple people leave and return a few years later with a promotion. I’ve also seen people return to their old job after a few months. Most times if they came back they were welcomed and people were excited.
I’ve seen a few where they were resented but that was always bc people already didn’t like them. Usually a teacher’s pet, a self promoting individual or someone who got promoted without justification.
I’ve boomeranged between 2 agencies more than once (A to B to A and back at B). As long as you didn’t leave on a bad note, it’s usually doable!
Agencies love boomerangs! It demonstrates to the entire staff that the grass isn’t always greener on “the other side!” and perfectly illustrates the risk of jumping ship from an agency you have thrived at. Don’t hesitate to explore.
Nice point, I guess some PR companies will really beat this drum to talk about how amazing we they are that talent come back.
On the flip side I sometimes see it on a resume and wonder if the person couldn’t hack it at another place to had to go back to their comfort zone?
