Has anyone here transitioned from account management to a marketing role, without too much of a pay cut? Worked in digital ad sales, realized I don’t want to continue the path be an AE. Thought this would be the “easiest” transition but I ended up having to restart from the bottom.

I racked up about $20k in credit card debt due to a confluence of things happening at once (move, school expenses , etc ). I have a fair amount of paper assets but not a much free cash. Assets are down a decent amount with the current market cycle and I’d prefer not to sell them to cover the debt , although they easily could. Anyone else finding it very difficult to get any enjoyment out of account management these days? Any coping tips? Sometimes it feels half my day is spent jumping through hoops to schedule and then reschedule meetings around senior managements’ calendars...only for them to be so late they miss the meeting anyways🙄

I work for a small agency and manage our internal marketing acct. We had very few processes in place when I started. I’ve since created, implemented, and trained our dept. on project mgmt for clients and am trying to convince the owner to apply those principles to our internal jobs. They are resistant because they just want the work to be done and don’t “want to keep spending money on internal jobs”.
