Hi all. I am looking to pivot my career into sales. I have a back ground as an insurance adjuster and some real estate sales. I’ve been looking for about 6 months and having a hard time breaking into any entry level roles. Also I have a degree in marketing. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

It's tough for experienced people to land roles right now, you may very well be doing all you can, and there is no special sauce in the currently horrific job market.

I've been unemployed and job seeking for 6 months now. I have several major companies on my resume, I have applied to literally hundreds of roles at this point, and have only had a handful of conversations.

Your background sounds more relevant than you might think. Insurance adjusting and real estate both involve communication, negotiation, and relationship building. I would lean heavily into those transferable skills.

Agreed

Help! I recently purchased a wanna get away ticket through Southwest for a business trip that was about $850. I was asked to cancel the trip due to other work issues in my local area. As luck would have it, there's a strong possibility that I landed a great new job and they need me to start right away. The credit is under my personal rapid rewards account. Hello, first post here. Outside sales, merchant services/card processing. I’m primarily a welder but I work 4 10-hour shifts typically then I try sales the last three days. I’ve done it long enough to where I’m confident and comfortable going to new businesses, establishing some rapport with business owners. But it seems like a lot of businesses see this as a waste of time, even adding services and cutting costs. I guess either I’m looking for advice or considering not doing this anymore.

I’ve been told my company is changing my title from Associate Director of BD to Sales Executive. I’m concerned it reads like a title demotion. Is it just semantics? How will this look for my career development? Curious about the standard perception of Sales Executive from a seniority perspective. Where does this land on the sales roles hierarchy? For context, it’s a professional services firm, I’ve been there 3+years, and they gave a Sales Executive title to someone who just started 5mo ago.

Anyone go from SaaS / licensing sales to services (strategy & implementation) sales?

I'm thinking of moving from large cap tech to large cap consultancy firm to help build the resume and round out my experience. I enjoy and do well in licensing, but I'm fairly young in my career (<6 years) and received a great offer to make the move.

Big fan of the org and team I'll be joining as well.

Thanks!!
