My local SHRM group had a study group of people taking it in the same period. They used to have mock tests to take on the SHRM page too. There was a small fee but I did them close to the test period and thought it prepared me well for what the test was like.

I took and passed SHRM-SCP in January. Passing the test is all about doing as many practice exams as you possibly can. The SHRM LMS is the very best tool for this.

Learned that I won't be promoted and did not get support from partners that I worked for. I was told to have a meeting with the hiring partner and HR person to discuss an offer. This is a new process for me. Was told they ll make an oral offer during the discussion and I ll consider an oral offer, should I negotiate the terms during the meeting or push for a formal offer letter and provide feedback?

How to negotiate in salary side. Scenario right now with me is,
I have offer from product based company 17.5 as CTC(15fixed + 1.5 variable + 1 joining bonus)
I have another offer from mid scale organization offering 20LPA as fixed with other things that makes CTC 20+
How should I negotiate with product base company hr to make my fixed part at least as 18LPA.
Which points to put in front of her, as she can easily say we have lots of perks and all other than CTC.

Regarding employers, do background checks verify only the employers you /list/on your resume? A few employers ago (but during pandemic) let me go for performance (before I was in HR, & dealing with depression from that job), and this employer is like a stain on my resume, resulting in me not being a strong candidate in interviews (verified this is a problem) since I have to explain why I moved to the next job. Worked there < 7 months. Can I leave them off my resume? Will that cause me trouble?

I'm in a stand-alone regional role when all other BP's are together the other side of the world aligned vertically.

The business is set up to support vertical streams, so all HR output (data, analytics etc.) is not by regional level, only by vertical.

As the majority of the business is within a similar time zone and all activity is conducted via verticals, I'm left with little influence or ownership, but full accountability for the region.

My company went toxic in the last couple months. Chose me and started interviewing. Had a very successful interview with Amazon but recruiter is working hard trying to place me and said there’s no knowing how long to find a team. Meanwhile I just received a Director offer for a company with a 29% pay bump July 1. Hello HR folks. Overheard a conversation at work and am curious what is the norm.
If an employee goes out on FMLA, obviously the benefits person sends them the STD, FMLA paperwork etc. But is it the maagers responsibility to maintain communication with the person out on leave and to get a timeline on their return or would that be the benefits team? Or maybe the HRBP?

Finally got a job offer to be an HR manager (I’d be a department of one) after 5 weeks unemployed of hard searching and connecting with recruiters. However, when I told them my salary range of $75-95k (my last job was 95k) they told me the budget was 65-80 which was fine. Verbal offer was $70k. I feel a little disrespected by this offer and want to counter with $80k. There’s many red flags already but UI may require I accept in which case I’m gonna keep job searching despite the salary. Advice?
