Hi! Anyone taken SHRM-CP exam recently and have any tips on studying or taking the exam? TIA.

My local SHRM group had a study group of people taking it in the same period. They used to have mock tests to take on the SHRM page too. There was a small fee but I did them close to the test period and thought it prepared me well for what the test was like.

Thanks. Where can I find mock tests?

I took and passed SHRM-SCP in January. Passing the test is all about doing as many practice exams as you possibly can. The SHRM LMS is the very best tool for this.

Send me a note if you’d be interested in chatting through some other recommendations - I’m happy to lend a hand!

I signed up for the SHRM CP exam. Anyone have fairly recent materials they’d be open to selling or sharing? Would love to not pay 700-1000 on access to the learning portal or a class. With my masters, I can’t get EY to cover the certification but it’s something I wanted to do this year.

Hello! I am in Charlotte and I am working for an Engineering Consulting company based out of Maryland. I am working on getting my SHRM certification in January. Right now I am making $65k (my last position was payroll specialist, and I just moved into the HR side of things this last month). Should I expect a pay raise in January after getting certified? I will be the only employee in the HR department of a company of 100+ employees.

Hi all! For an experienced hire as a Human Capital Consultant at Deloitte, what should I expect the salary/sign-on bonus to be at a MCOL city? I have approx. 3.5 YOE (non-consulting), MBA and MS degree (non target school) and also SHRM certified (which is probably irrelevant for the role but thought I’d share anyways). Already did my research but the range is kind of all over the place for experienced hires so just want to have a ballpark. Thanks!

I am an HR department of 1, SHRM-CP, with 5 years experience. I took this role for the challenge of building an HR department for a healthcare practice in business 55 years and 70 employees. If anyone has some advice on what to get a masters in specifically, I’d be open to suggestions! I’m trying to find something that would be worth my while and would give me a step up. Thanks!

Being a woman in the workforce is difficult enough when you have to prove 24/7 you are capable and intelligent to be given any job worth having. In advertising, I feel like there’s no exception. I see many women in advertising being given the unfavorable marketing roles such as running organic social media, managing events and other PR related duties. Whereas males are given more strategic based roles where they play a huge part in decision making. Is this true based on your experience?

Fellow HR professionals: anyone ever been in a position where new leadership (VP of HR) came in to an otherwise seasoned team and is clearly not VP material, unprofessional, can’t be trusted, and two of the team members have already left within a yearish of her coming in because they can’t abide by the decisions she makes and how she operates? I just can’t seem to motivate myself to do it, I’m so mentally burnt out at the end of the day from a high stress HR job, the last thing I feel like doing is studying HR!

SPHR exam- has anyone ever been “randomly selected” for an application audit? This just happened to me and the sheer amount of effort that is going to go into collecting all the documents almost makes me not want to follow through. Since I didn’t finish undergrad, they’re asking for a copy of my high school diploma or transcript and that itself is going to be an absolute nightmare to get hold of. Guess I’m not really looking for a solution here, just venting.

Hi colleagues!

I'm an experienced HRBP who's looking for some career advancement advice. I'm currently studying for my SPHR and looking to take the leap to HR Director roles. While I'm a strong HRBP, I've yet to manage a team. And while I train managers on people leadership skills, I myself, haven't had a chance to flex those muscles. Those in HR leadership, should I apply for HR Director roles even though I haven't managed a team?
