I've been in PeopleOps (mostly focused on TA Ops) for over 9 years now. I've somehow gotten by without a degree in HR or a certification, but would like to get some more education to continue to advance my career. What are your thoughts on PHR vs SPHR vs SHRM for someone with my years of experience and current role as a manager?

Hello! I am in Charlotte and I am working for an Engineering Consulting company based out of Maryland. I am working on getting my SHRM certification in January. Right now I am making $65k (my last position was payroll specialist, and I just moved into the HR side of things this last month). Should I expect a pay raise in January after getting certified? Being a woman in the workforce is difficult enough when you have to prove 24/7 you are capable and intelligent to be given any job worth having. In advertising, I feel like there’s no exception. Fellow HR professionals: anyone ever been in a position where new leadership (VP of HR) came in to an otherwise seasoned team and is clearly not VP material, unprofessional, can’t be trusted, and two of the team members have already left within a yearish of her coming in because they can’t abide by the decisions she makes and how she operates? I’m taking the SPHR in less than 2 months and haven’t started studying for it. How difficult is it? I’ve been in HR for 20 years and have experienced ALOT in that time, although there are always employee relations scenarios that surprise me! How much do I really need to study for this? I just can’t seem to motivate myself to do it, I’m so mentally burnt out at the end of the day from a high stress HR job, the last thing I feel like doing is studying HR!

SPHR exam- has anyone ever been “randomly selected” for an application audit? This just happened to me and the sheer amount of effort that is going to go into collecting all the documents almost makes me not want to follow through. Since I didn’t finish undergrad, they’re asking for a copy of my high school diploma or transcript and that itself is going to be an absolute nightmare to get hold of. Guess I’m not really looking for a solution here, just venting.

While I'm a strong HRBP, I've yet to manage a team. And while I train managers on people leadership skills, I myself, haven't had a chance to flex those muscles. Those in HR leadership, should I apply for HR Director roles even though I haven't managed a team?
