Google Search therapists by location first because if it’s a pain to get to it will raise your anxiety and discourage you from going. Then search by people that specialize in anxiety. Then, from there, I would call the people after reading their profiles or website (they should have one) and if you’re feeling the vibe, ask about the hours they have open. Once you found one that works with your schedule, ask about insurance. If the best person for you is out of network use your fsa/hsa or save the receipts and deduct it from your taxes as a medical expense. If the therapist you want is too expensive, tell them. A lot of therapists are willing to negotiate their rates.
Thanks!
it can be a very frustrating process cause lists of providers are never updated. so calling a few is good but also sometimes you can ask if HR knows anyone good or even if a friend does. sometimes other people you know can be good resources to find someone good too
Thanks!
Team Avo! Free service that matches you with a therapist. I had a doctor recommend it to me

I spent hours to look for a doc and finally found one online and he was in my insurance network. Then when I called, I was told the doc is trying to get out of that insurance network so he only accepts cash patients. An hour session is $350!!! Even tho he is still listed under the insurance website, he can just say that.. I got my hopes up for nothing...Has anyone else experienced something like this??
In my experience best is referral from someone you know - a doctor or friend.
