Anyone recently received a tax manager offer from EY ? I’m going through final interviews and want to see what your experience was like (negotiation process, initial offer higher/lower than expected?, did you give them a salary expectation range? How long did it take from final interview to offer etc) TIA!PwC EY KPMG Deloitte

It's harder than usual right now, this job market is just brutal. Even companies that aren't afraid to hire in this economy slow walk everything. Try every possible approach, and don't overlook the value of word of mouth contact. In 15 years you would have made a lot of professional acquaintances, get in touch and let them know you're looking.

Very true. It is realy hard.
Yes, the Job Market has changed, and companies are flipping a coin and seeing who has the right wording on their resume that would seem to be a good fit for the different positions. I have handled so many different job scopes in HR that I can't put everything on my resume because I would have about 15 pages. The Job Market recruiters do not sit down with you face-to-face and have that real conversation about what skills you have and the skills they are looking for. People are providing resumes for an audition and hoping they get a call to come in and read their script. I'm so convinced that the Job Market is not about your experience, it's about who you know.
Honestly… every role I’ve gotten over the past 10 years has been referral based from my network.
It’s all network. Network, leaders you supported, recruiters you hired, network and act like a salesperson tracking leads, cold calling and follow up. It’s out there and you can find it
Networking and it’s more about who you know right now. Start reaching out to others you’ve worked with or kept up with, and let them know what you are interested in and if they have any leads.
In this market you definitely should network, but also when possible apply directly on the company’s career page. Give it a few days and then reach out to the HR department and let them know ( remind them) that you have applied. With untrained, unskilled recruiters and AI complicating the processes you might to revert back to the “ old school “ way of doing things.
Thanks so much for everyone’s advice
networking - I got hired for my current role by a recruiter I had previous worked with. They posted on their linked and I reach out. I hardly ever got any response when I applied directly to a company .
