Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

Switch jobs. The chances of turning it around with people who clearly don’t have your best interests in mind by holding you back from promotion are so much lower than starting fresh at a new place and excelling there. Why would you trust partners who said they had your back only to stab you in it?
Sounds like its time for a new counselor. You can change counselors at any time.
Reprioritize what you have on your plate. Stay away from speculative tasks and focus on what’s important. Lay out a plan to get promoted by mid year. Validate that plan with your coach/partners. Have monthly checking with them and showcase how you are progressing against those set goals. All the best for the next round. It’s a marathon. Not a race. Only way you can lose is if you drop out of the race. Chin up soldier.
Good luck wading thru this phase. Happens for everyone. Talk to partners who have your best interests in mind to see if u stand a real chance of making it. Keep looking outside too to see what’s your market worth! Sometimes a conversation with your detractors may reduce their stance against you as well!

Big 4 firms offer a masterclass at getting people to go above and beyond (100%+ utilization, firm initiatives that die as soon as they start, random RFPs, etc) and then hitting them with a just wait 6 more months. Go to a firm that is more meritocratic, promotes when ready, and doesn’t have you chasing chasing wild initiatives.
Exactly. Disappointment ensues and opportunity cost is a burden at that point

Things to my plate. I’m not a junior person anymore. I have other things that I want to dedicate my time to that isn’t work. However, there is this message that I should be doing more. There is one of me and I don’t want to give more to the firm. Is this my sign to leave? I am at my wits end with this.
Yes, it’s your counselor. Please change your counselor or have an upfront conversation about what are the things you need to check for him to make a case. Also show that you are disappointed and not being recognized for your work is making you consider the option to leave the firm. If you have partner support they shouldn’t have any reason to not put your case forward
“the show must go on” - the very toxic work motto that keeps me going when down. But yea definitely see what else is out there. also look at your peers that are successfully moving up - what are they doing that you’re not?

Thank you for the offer. I’m in the west coast, unfortunately.
Leave
Time to leave. Market will cool in next promo cycle meaning even less business demand. I was in the same position and got a promo elsewhere

I’m looking to exit into industry at first. If it doesn’t work, I’m def leaving for a competitor.
