Heard vendor ppl in CSS Indian being laid off?
So why do company merges result in mass layoffs?
So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

Didn't W&K just pick up the air b&b business? I'm sure it's fine. Lots of boutique shops. North, Grady Britton, Instrument and others
My old boss just moved there to “escape” NYC...at a place called Swift as a senior producer and working on some Google project
Hah. I’d love to go home some day,
But Portland is dying.
Weiden I believe is doing well, and Instrument...tech is thriving (Puppet) and Laika was recently hiring. PDX is taking its hits like everyone else but I haven’t noticed it “dying” work wise
WK is awful. The work is good and the benefits are good but they have massive layoffs every 7 months it seems. Portland has a lot of small shops that are really cool (but very “Portland” design-wise). The city is very freelance heavy tho, which isn’t for everyone. AKQA is doing well and always hiring creatives. RGA is whatever. Swift seems to be doing well but all they do is social soooo? All of these companies do have travel opportunities tho, so that’s cool. But the city is hella small. You know the entire ad community in like a year and a half.
Very limited. I just left after 2 layoffs in 7 years. Don’t do it.
