Get over it. It's is MO. Look at all his businesses, his universities, and his marriages. He is a failure who got his start with a million dollars from daddy. Those who voted for him are getting exactly what they voted for.
D1 I hope you or your family has to ever depend on public/ govt assistance (financial, health, etc). But if that day comes I sincerely hope you stay true to your beliefs and reject that assistance and just collapse and die. M'kay ?
US troops were on the ground in Vietnam for 7 years.
I don't have time to explain why government intervention is the source of healthcare's problems, but it is. Getting govt to fix govt problems makes worse problems. Healthcare isn't a right, it's a service. Poor people get relatively lower quality healthcare, so that they can have absolutely better quality healthcare overall. The standard socialism/capitalism tradeoff.
Trump supporters are so stupid. They see all his failures, but they cannot come up with a way to defend him so they just go "get over it". Ignorance and stupidity at its best.
There are many of us that agree with D1, just not worth wasting my time arguing over it. It's been argued for a long time, still don't see eye to eye.
Hey @Deloitte1, are you high?? "50 yrs ago" the country *wasn't* overflowing with caring and generous people. *That's why those exist now*
Collapse? Relax, fella
Um, get over it?
@D1, it seems as if we fundamentally disagree about the ideal role of government - and that's ok. It sounds as if our general debate should be about the level to which government/taxes should exist, before we get to the specifics of healthcare. I think you're underestimating the benefit of government regulation in a number of areas and overestimating how much of a burden it is on you.
@ey1, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Capitalists have done infinitely more to improve the outcomes of the poor than all government welfare programs combined. Moreover, they did it honestly without having to steal from one group and then sanctimoniously distribute to the other
D1, even if I accepted your premise that Healthcare is just another service (which I don't because I'm not some Ayn Rand fanboy), it would still be in my rational self-interest to ensure that all people have access to healthcare. The way the uninsured utilize our health systems increases costs and decreases access and quality for those who are insured. Universal Health Care would be one way of ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
OP not all republicans are like Democratic sheep that blindly approve all republican initiatives. The votes weren't there because Republicans unlike the democrats who said they don't have time to read and understand the legislation and vote for it anyway, want to find good solutions not just the Hope and Change of the last administration. Also Trump promised to repeal and replace, not repeal and replace in the first 2 months. Come on man.
The premise behind D1's thoughts seems to be that everyone has equal opportunity to reach the (upper) middle class from an earning perspective and thus if they fail to attain it, they and they alone should bear the burden.
Water? Are you serious? Replace it in your argument - where are all the generous philanthropists solving the Flint water issue? Oh, right, they were busy cutting the government footprint, which undermined its ability to repair infrastructure.
I know - exactly what he said. Boggles my mind.
It's an awful law that makes no sense. There are good parts of it, but it's a bandaid on a gun shot wound - will not work.
@k1, my solution would be to buy health insurance
@e2, you're too sweet. I'll accept the government's return of my stolen funds whenever I have the opportunity
Good luck talking to saint peter d1.
D1, just so we are clear here, you are arguing that we should let bleeding poor people die in the street so that your insurance premiums can be slightly lower?
Nope. We're arguing that charity should be charity, rather than government extortion. If there were no Obamacare, EMTALA, Medicare, or MEDICAID (i.e., 50 yrs ago), the country would be overflowing with caring and generous people, such as yourself, that would gave the honor of voluntarily supporting non-profit hospitals and healthcare organizations. Healthcare would still be a service, and those that couldn't or refused to pay for it would be indebted to your generosity, rather than the pathetic, entitled underclass that the liberals have created
