How did they find out it was you who made the complaint if you filed anonymous? I definitely would decline
Because it’s not anonymous with HR it never is
It's true HR is there to protect the company. Assuming HR responded through some sort of portal where your anonymity is still maintained, and assuming you are able to respond to them anonymously (i.e. - through the complaint portal they responded with "schedule an appointment with X HR person to discuss further"), I would recommend responding with the question back to them "I am concerned about retaliation and would prefer to keep my identity anonymous. How do I maintain my anonymity if I schedule an appointment with you? What alternatives are there to assure I am protected while this issue is being investigated further." Put the burden back on them to help you (as they state their job is) and assure your anonymity.
Make copies of any emails and documents you may have that help prove you may be experiencing retaliation. I’ve seen HR terminate someone and wipe their computer before the employee has a chance to make any copies of their proof.
I would decline the meeting. I don't trust HR people because they only care about themselves and the company they work for. HR will never have your back. Nor will they ever rule in your favor either
HR will never have your back and will go after you if you file a valid complaint. HR is your enemy.
Decline it.
Absolutely
Chief
My one and only complaint that HR asked for a meeting for was worthless. I was told it was my word against theirs and I would not be getting an apology. Hindsight it was such a hostile work environment I probably could have sued for the chaos around that event.
HR is not your friend. I would email back that all necessary information was contained in your initial complaint and rather than a meeting you would prefer email correspondence for any updates regarding your concern.
They won't say half of what they may in person by email because email is undeniable.
I would have sued imo
I would turn down the request. I don't understand how that is considered anonymous. I already don't trust them.
It depends on the type of complaint. Meet, tell the truth, give your facts. If it's a valid complaint, you should have nothing to hide.
I agree that no employee should be put in a position of possible retribution, but most companies have a no retaliation policy for bringing complaints. If that is not the case with your employer, maybe you should entertain hiring an attorney.
Why are they asking to speak to you if filed anonymous? Are they looking into complaint and talking to all people?
If your logging into your work computer and filing an anonymous complaint just know it's not confidential!
Wait, how do they know it was you?
I wouldn't talk to them personally but if you must: Here’s what you can do - request a confidential meeting. Be clear with HR about your need to stay anonymous.
HR is NOT your friend. Any time I brought a hostile or troublesome co-worker to HR’s attention, they retaliated against me.
Always look to right when answering questions. Ask why am I here?
And ask what are we investigating?
Is your position union protected? I don't trust HR they aren't on your side. So much for anonymity.
It’s impossible to remain anonymous when filing an HR complaint because HR is required to investigate. Most HR teams make this widely known, so they really need to educate employees more as to what is required for an investigation. It’s usually mentioned during onboarding into a new company that you likely will not remain anonymous.
I had a VP who retaliated against me because of an anonymous complaint. I wasn't the whistle-blower. But if I had known, I would have.
HR manages "resources" and not people. If the culture is rancid, get even by being successful elsewhere.
Be as objective as possible. Answer direct questions with direct answers. Use words carefully rephrasing things differently than when you made the first report while still being truthful.
People of color never go to north Idaho companies like kootenai Health and any medical offices because they will treat you unfairly base off your skin color not your skills
Now I feel vested, how did it go? Hope all went well for you.
Do not trust HR. That’s all I got to say.
Deny all
