Thought this was interesting. Across 160 teams of researchers, just about all failed to make good life outcome predictions on things like GPA, evictions, layoffs, and others. Data followed 4.5k families across 15 years, with 13k features (varied over time). Haven't looked at it directly yet, but will be turning the docs and data inside out... In the meantime, authors claim this as showing the limits of ML. Oh, and it's published in PNAS, so you know there's some big publication energy there.

My probation was supposed to be of 6 months (i.e until June 2022), but today I received a notification in Workday that I have passed my probation.
How is this possible?
I was planning to resign within probation for 30days notice period. But now this happened. Will this change my notice period to 90days??

It’s basically illegal in most states to mention any kind of negative verbiage when confirming whether a person worked at a firm or not.
For example, if I find out that during my background check, a former employer said something like “that guy was an asshole” I‘d have legal grounds to sue.
Depends who you put as the contact for D. I’ve gotten calls from HR depts where the former team member listed me as the contact on the background check and I just had to confirm the month/year they worked with me
To that end: always only put the Corporate hotline
I think an outside background check would only show your start and end date along with title and salary.
They definitely would not share salary
They only confirm the dates worked. They do NOT confirm salary unless you specifically sign an additional release through the Work Number on a case by case basis.
Aaaannnndddd this is why references are pointless af cuz id list my reference as a friend and boom u were a rockstar lol
I went through a background check for a (very, very low) clearance and got grilled for like 45 minutes and 8 different ways on why a former employer had me listed as “non-rehireable”. So....they may list you as that but it’s, or at least how it’s been explained to me, generally reserved for cases where you left for bad reasons. HR issues like racism or sexual harassment, stole money, something like that.
