Got an interview with Amazon within their Advertising department. I hear working for Amazon can be great if you get into the right department. Anyone have insights to their advertising department? Good or bad? Also, would love some interview tips if you have them! (It’s for an Executive Assistant position) thank you!

Hi All! I hope you guys are staying safe and healthy.
I am hosting a free workshop for teachers that I thought might benefit you. The workshop is called From Unsettled to Prepared Classroom. I am giving you the tools you need to feel organized and ready for this upcoming school year. There is so much that is still uncertain and it can be super daunting to start to plan for a year like this one.

What’s the point in pushing back? Do you think they’re using your work for a client? That release will probably take you 1-2 hours, I’d just do it. 🤷🏼♀️
I’d still complete the assignment. Definitely don’t push back. But who the heck writes 750 word releases these days?! That’s way too long.
Thank you all for your feedback! I went forward with the assessment, and they loved all of my work/both assessments and offered me the job. The recruiter explained that they wanted to take extra steps to make sure I was the right fit as they’re a small team and 100% remote, and there wasn’t any in-person interaction or interviews.
Congrats!!!
They’re using this as either a final tiebreaker between you and another candidate, or they really like you but maybe saw something in your other samples that gave them pause, so they wanted one last pass before a decision.
Also want to note I’ve shared more writing samples than asked for already. Should I push back at all on this? I feel they should have a good idea of my writing skills by now and this is a good bit of work to do before getting an offer.
I had to do multiple assessments for my in house job but there was only one writing assessment and it was at the beginning of the process. Agree it’s odd - they might be deciding between a few final candidates and this is one of the inputs they’re evaluating
First, this is stupid & arbitrary. I'll say what no one else will. The fact that multiple comms pros can't crack this case demonstrates that this firm doesn't communicate very openly.
Second, a writing sample proves almost nothing. As a fmr VP at a top 10 PR firm, I constantly pushed colleagues to move towards a case study interview format. Give em something we've worked on or are working on...give em a few days or a week to chew on it and see what the candidate comes up with. Have em present in front of a group as if they're presenting in front of a client. This way the firm gets to see an in depth view of the candidate's analytical abilities, oral and written presentation skills and ability to persuade. Much more than a funky 700 word writing sample.
It’s a lot, but if you want the job, I’d do it. It’s just a release.
It sounds like someone is concerned about your writing capabilities and they’re wanting to make sure you’re the right fit or being brought on at a proper level. Would recommend you submit the request.
Seems excessive, I’ve been given “writing tests” with multiple components but it was all given at once...never had to do a 2nd round of writing.
