In your experience, did you observe any difference in military performance between married and unmarried personnel? Me and my buddy talked about this last week. He told me that maybe the reason I stayed long in the army is because I don't have my own family yet, so I have fewer distractions from my duty.

In my experience, it depends on the individual. I’ve seen married and unmarried soldiers sham and sandbag duties, while others work hard and take care of business.

Being married might give them more drive to promote and provide, but they could also be content with where they are. Increased income is a factor in wanting to promote, regardless of if people admit it, so single soldiers can also have drive towards that goal.

Do keep in mind that 20 US states prohibit discrimination based on marital status. Some conversations are better left un-had.

I would have assumed the opposite to be true, honestly. In my experience, my married buddies have been more focused because they aren't trying to get with chicks. They already have the stability they need with their wives and families.

I’ve seen married military personnel trapped in the military because they can’t afford to take care of their families outside of it so they strive to get promoted to take care of them

Married women tend to perform better

It’s been asked before whether it’s worth it to pay (~$150) to upgrade a 3 hr flight. I generally agree it is not. But what if your two tweenagers bicker nonstop and are complete and total jerks to you all the time and your spouse chooses the “they’ll grow out of it” approach to things so basically you just want 3 hours of alone time. Then is it worth it?

(Note, in this scenario, they are all entirely too naive to realize it isn’t a system comped upgrade.)

I’ve gradually moved on from ex-bf from 1y ago, but still to this day have this greatest fear that I’d crumble if and when I hear he is getting engaged or married to someone.

I wanted a life with him but he couldn’t see it with me (midway of our relationship) or with anyone before me. I do wish him to find his happiness.

It’s just that feelings of unworthy, unloveable, not chosen by someone you love so dearly continue to haunt me after all these times. Anyone has tips to get through this?

I broke up with my EX mainly because the relationship with my child and her was not the best, it sucks but I have to look out for my child, So far I am able to do the things I can do now. It is not the I am not Hoeing around but the simply fact that I can hang out with friends and go watch my son play baseball is a great feeling now. I feel at peace now, in somewhat of pain because of the breakup but I am at peace now.

With Christmas coming, I’m nervous and dreading the season not only to not have her but will I make it a happy one for the kids. I need extra income but need to be home with them in the evenings.

I’m mid 30s F. Recently started seeing this guy, where he is “good enough”. Good conversations, decent time together, he has a good heart, but nothing about him shines. - not fit (I work out everyday and play sports), meh social skills (he doesn’t have best friends, just few he hangs out with), bit less energy than me.
There is a feeling in me that says “he’s going to be a comfortable life partner” and “he is just good enough, but if I break up I won’t find someone for a long time”
Do I stay?

Curious what the base and commission structure is for inside sales and associate director of sales in biotech (also anyone else who wants to share pls put industry). Paid hourly or salary? At the biotech company I work at avg inside sales is $62,632 with a $3500 per quarter cap. Commission structure is % based on sales quota reached vs capped (not a direct % of sales). I’m underpaid at $53000 with $3500 cap per quarter.
