So that's a tricky question. Has the senior manger worked within the same department/company/industry for that amount of time? Not all senior managers perform at the same level across jobs/industries.

Sorry I should’ve been more clear. For the situation I am specifically referring to, I am applying into a role for senior manager (I’m currently at manager level and they’re asking for 10 to 15 years experience) I personally have 4/5 years experience and so I am struggling with whether to apply
It depends on the industry and the company. In some industries, such as finance or law, it is not uncommon for senior managers to have 10-15 years of experience. In other industries, such as technology or retail, it may be less common.
I am in Tech and that is not a ridiculous level. In banking everyone is a VP, but in tech it is not that way. We posted recently for a Sr Mgr and had hundreds of responses as it was WFH. Our first step was to eliminate anyone without the basic qualifications.
If you have a niche skill set that makes you uniquely qualified for that position (like exp at a competitor) then this could edge out the lack of experience.
