Hi there, I have 3.5 YOE working for NHS Finance. I applied to Deloitte Risk Advisory, Public Sector (London, UK) and was successful. Waiting to hear back with package offer but it’s been over 2 weeks - was told they may offer M2 grade, any ideas what this is?
I’m also interviewing for Senior consultant role also at Deloitte. How much would this typically pay?
Torn whether to stay within NHS as I will be getting an internal promotion or move to Deloitte.
What’s the WLB like? Good job security?

If you go by the numbers, there is no doubt. If you go by emails about trainings, certain asks or whatever and the boss bragging on me for always being the first to get stuff done and volunteer than yes. The problem is they always tell us 3% is max. And they give almost everyone 3%.
You could get none like our whole company is.b
Know your value, highlight it. Research market value pay for your position/similar positions with other companies. Outline specific points that show what you provide currently and how that translates to benefits to the company in the future. Be CONFIDENT but respectful. And, honestly, pick the right time. If the company is not doing well (or as well as desired), then it might not be the best time to ask for more.
If that is the case, have a serious conversation about what you can do to provide more to earn a promotion or potential higher raise in the future.
If all else fails and negotiations go terrible and you feel like you are not valued, then be flexible. There are PLENTY of companies out there that will value your contributions, be open to strengthening your resume and keep yourself available for new opportunities.
At this point it is what is it
Worked for a company for 25 years and wish I got any raise. 3% per year would have been phenomenal, especially with my consistent above target assessments by director. Besides my team selling more to earn additional commission and maximizing any realistic incentives no raise. Base never raised, they actually reduced base a few times when company aquired new brands. Ultimately severed during 5th or 6th restructure after helping them become a conglomerate.

Well what I left out is in 2020 I took an $8000 pay cut to salary. Then in 2024 they did it again. I’m basically back where I was when I started.
