McKinsey & Company I received an offer from McKinsey & Company in 2021 and I’ll be starting later this year after graduation. Obviously because of the pandemic, inflation is slowly trending upwards. Has anyone asked for a base salary increase before even starting the job? Any advice on how to approach this?
Can anyone at GitHub give me a referral? 👀

Hmmm I don’t really understand why you ever stood at attention while your wife shops but 24-hour time and quickly eating/walking will probably stick around for a long time
Waiting at attention while the wife shopped for groceries? That's a new one for me. I do believe that some habits are hard to break, like being able to consume a large amount of food in a short amount of time, or carrying things in your left hand. "Staying in my pay grade" has always been an issue in my corporate roles because I'm not used to kissing a$$ and carrying on more than necessary conversation with senior leaders. My manager was prior army and had to explain it to the senior leaders. 😫
The wild thing is that I don't even notice how fast I eat nor do the people around me. I'm fully engaged in the conversation then boom "oh wow you're finished, when did you eat all of that?" Now that you bring up indigestion, I think that might be an issue of mine as well lol.
Yeah I don't think this stuff ever really goes away, especially if you served for most of your life. Saying 1900H is probably something that would go away pretty quickly though lol so not sure why that one stuck
I didn’t fully retire but I have had those brisk walks and left the kids or wife behind lol, I turned around and they were on the other side of the store. Hang in there
I’ve been retired since 2016. Some things will stick. I live in NYC and often struggle with people moving slowly or not having awareness but it’s definitely gotten easier. Luckily I do have a chat of some of the Marines that I served with who are also in 1st CivDiv now and that has been helpful. We play a game “is it actually annoying or am I just a Marine” and we help check each other and give each other guidance in situations we have experience in. Def would suggest building a vet community.
