Looking at all the questions around suits/ dress codes really makes me think…Why are we required to be in business professional all the time? Wish we can have a more tech working environment

No one has an office, much less an assistant. Creative and account are different jobs with their own dress codes. But dumb, off brief ideas by white creatives do win.

Found out today my toxic manager bad mouthed me to an HR rep in a different division. This correlated with his bad management and abusive behavior. Luckily the new manager I’ll soon be working with dismissed it. Her words of wisdom “reflect on what you could have done differently, you can only control your actions”. How does that resonate for you? Have you had similar experiences?

Is it okay for reporting manager to already inform my colleagues 1 month before that i have decided to leave the organisation.
I mean this is a very critical information and normally managers only inform when person has 2 weeks left to leave

Case 2: agreeing on 50/50, then being upset about why the date never picks up the check or treats them after 3 months of dating

In both cases, posted 5 days apart, they were advised to find someone else as it seems their date doesn’t respect their values (case 1) or value them enough to spend money on them (case 2).

I rented a house that had been vacant for a bit & the prior tenant didn’t do a thorough job cleaning up. Agent indicated the owner would be open to having the house cleaned but I would need to have the house professionally cleaned when I moved out (that was fine w me). I just received the bill from the owner for $250, which is super annoying bc there was no expectation communicated that I would foot the bill for this, more so bc the cleaner did a LOUSY job. Interesting all the noise about these PPT, my take:

The pandemic took all the upside of an IB analyst life (client meetings in person, fancy trips, suit up, worshiped at networking events) and left all the juniors with the downside (long hours, monkey-like type of job, aggressive work environment).

Not that the complaints are not sort of legitimate but you may need to revise the decision-making process that led you to accept a return offer. Specially if you were looking for less hours.

Got laid off in tech corp dev making 250-300 all in. Have an offer to join a fairly new family office investment team in PE buyouts but will be a fairly significant cash pay cut vs what I was making in tech corp dev. I’ve always been interested in doing investing. All things being equal, is there better upside to take the fam office to do PE (at a pay cut for now), or go do another corp dev job? 6-7 YOE
