Honestly, that's why I gave up corporate and do what I do now. I don't have quotas and fit business around my schedule with my young son and now granddaughter. I started part-time and now transitioning full time and STILL take care of my son on his off days from school (like tomorrow). If you enjoy what you do might as well figure out how to call your own shots doing it. Go independent if you have to.

I pay 750 a week in day care for two. One in school and one in the way. After the next, my wife is “retiring”.

I have one in daycare and one in private grade school. I live in a rural area so I get away with about $9,000 annually for both of them.

I pay $2200/mo for day care. Plus extra help on weekends runs $15-20/hr depending on who's available

I pay $1300/mo for infant at daycare

5 years away from Reserve retirement. O3, O4 in 1-2 years. Retire as an O4. Anyone else been sticking it out and at the firm? Feel like it's going to be hard. I almost got out, but then when I stopped seeing the extra $600 a month, and realized what I would be losing with free healthcare and a pension...just doesn't seem like it's the best move to get out. Start grad school next year too. My commander is awesome and the unit is flexible, which is why I think I could stay. Just don't want it to hurt my consulting career. Thoughts?

looking into rolling old 401k into a Roth IRA. I just graduated from MBA and therefore have only worked a few months in 2022. Am I correct in thinking that the taxes I pay will be lower than if I did this in any other year where I worked the full year? Any other drawbacks or things to think about?

I need some strategies! When I introduce a text I use choral reading and whisper reading to guarantee students actually read the text. After an initial read, we go back and annotate to understand the text better. However, I feel like I do all the work. The class doesn’t seem to be thinking about the text. There is a lot of yawning. It’s like they are just waiting to write down what I tell them to. How do I get kids to think about what they are reading? How do I get them to do the work?
